Just recieved an email from the company where we get our treat icing from. It was all about artificial food coloring and the effects it can have on your furbabies. So glad we switched to natural coloring! It makes me feel so much better knowing that I can still make the treats pretty without adding harmful chemicals!

Artificial food coloring has long been used to enhance the visual appeal of dog treats. However, there are notable risks associated with exposing dogs to these synthetic additives. Artificial dyes like Red 40, Yellow 5, and Blue 1 contain compounds that can be harmful to a dog’s health if consumed in large quantities over time.

Studies have linked artificial food coloring to allergic reactions, gastrointestinal issues, and hyperactivity in dogs. There is also evidence that certain dyes may be carcinogenic. While the FDA deems most artificial colors safe in small doses, dogs have much more sensitive digestive systems than humans.

Given these potential health hazards, it is crucial we prioritize the well-being of our canine consumers. Dog parents are increasingly demanding natural and organic products for their pets. Within the growing pet industry, there is now a huge market for treats made from wholesome, recognizable ingredients.
