Our Zoo is nestled on the north facing slope of Cougar Mountain with a breathtaking view of the Cascade Mountain range and Lake Sammamish. We are dedicated to promoting the cause of the Earth's vanishing wildlife through the universal power of edu

cation. We consider our visitors as the guardians of our planet and put forth an unprecedented effort to give each visitor the utmost in personal attention and hospitality. Established in 1972 the primary focus of the Cougar Mountain Zoo is on endangered species and education. Many of the Zoo animals have been born or raised at the Zoo and have developed a self assured attitude toward humans, enabling visitors to take a deep glimpse into the beauty and mysteries of other life forms.

The zoo is open today until 3:00pm! Due to continued power outages in the area, ticket purchases must be made in advance online and the confirmation number given to the admissions attendant upon arrival.

The Cougar Mountain Zoo family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved 17-year-old Bengal Tiger, Taj.

Veterinary and Animal Care staff made the decision to humanely euthanize Taj due to geriatric considerations and advanced irreversible arthritis. He had been receiving specialized individual care for age related concerns during his senior years.

Taj arrived at the zoo with his best friend Álmos as a cub in 2007. Some of you remember him for his calm nature, his regal appearance, and a gaze that melts hearts. We all remember Taj as being an amazing ambassador for his species, and helping the zoo to achieve its mission of conservation through education.

The zoo family will hold a very special place in our hearts for Taj and he will be deeply missed. 💕
