VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is a multi-specialty veterinary hospital located in Ithaca, New York. We are a progressive practice dedicated to quality veterinary medicine, patient care, and client service. The hospital is AAHA-accredited and a past Veterinary Economics Practice of Excellence. VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is committed to providing the latest medical and surgical diagnostics and trea

tments. We offer specialty services in surgery and radiology, including ultrasound, as well as acupuncture and rehabilitation services. We have a doctor in our hospital from 8 am until 10 pm every day of the year allowing us to see patients in a timely manner. Our hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing care for our hospitalized patients and emergency service for established patients. We are supported by an experienced and dedicated staff of 45, including a team of NYS-licensed veterinary technicians.

Meet the adorable Hilde, a sweet 3-year-old Wirehaired Pointing Griffon who recently came to see Dr. Socha for a laparoscopic spay procedure! 💖

A laparoscopic spay is a minimally invasive procedure, allowing for a quicker and more comfortable recovery for our furry friends.

Hilde’s wonderful family surprised us with a delicious platter of cookies and a kind card! We love the thoughtful gesture and truly appreciate the support. 🥰 Hilde is recovering beautifully at home and feeling great—the first photo was taken the night of surgery! The family also included a photo that shows how great the incision looked just two weeks after surgery 😊

🐾 Meet Sweet P**a! 🐾

This sweet 7-year-old Dachshund was rushed into our ER with difficulty walking. After being diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), P**a underwent a successful Hemilamintectomy surgery performed by Dr. Socha.

We’re happy to report that P**a is now back at home and doing great! 💕🐾

Here she is pictured with ER doctor, Dr. Russotto, who helped her along the way and some amazing photos provided by P**a's family.

We're so glad to see our little warrior on the road to recovery! 🏥💖

🎄 Meet the festive Samson 🎄

This adorable 10-year-old Shar Pei came in for his Oncology appointment with Dr. Rassnick today, and he brought along some serious holiday spirit! With his cute Christmas tree hat, Samson is spreading joy and cheer as he continues his treatment journey.

Here he is pictured with oncology team members, Hannah and Kristen, who are always there to give him the best care. 💚❤️

🦃🍂 Early Thanksgiving Celebration at VCA Colonial Animal Hospital! 🍂🦃

Today, we kicked off the holiday season with a special early Thanksgiving celebration at our monthly staff meeting! 🎉 We enjoyed a delicious lunch, featuring an amazing variety of side dishes brought in by our talented team members.

But the fun didn’t stop there — we hosted a pie contest! 🥧 The competition was fierce, but here are the top winners:

Canine influenza, or “dog flu,” is a highly contagious respiratory illness that can be passed from dog to dog. It typically starts with a cough and can be mistaken for the more common and well-known Bordetella. In some cases, canine influenza can progress to pneumonia.

Inky recently had a dental cleaning and lipoma excision by Dr. Tripp and the VCA Colonial team, and we are so happy to hear from his family that he's healing beautifully! ❤️ While he’s not a fan of the E-collar, his recovery is going wonderfully, and we couldn’t be more pleased with his progress.
