VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is a multi-specialty veterinary hospital located in Ithaca, New York. We are a progressive practice dedicated to quality veterinary medicine, patient care, and client service. The hospital is AAHA-accredited and a past Veterinary Economics Practice of Excellence. VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is committed to providing the latest medical and surgical diagnostics and trea

tments. We offer specialty services in surgery and radiology, including ultrasound, as well as acupuncture and rehabilitation services. We have a doctor in our hospital from 8 am until 10 pm every day of the year allowing us to see patients in a timely manner. Our hospital operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing care for our hospitalized patients and emergency service for established patients. We are supported by an experienced and dedicated staff of 45, including a team of NYS-licensed veterinary technicians.

🐾 Chango’s Recovery Update! 🐾

We are thrilled to share an update on Chango after his recent surgery with Dr. Ross! 🐶🎉

Chango was all smiles when his stitches came out, especially since it was on his Santeria name day! 🎉 It’s not every day we get to see such a happy pup — Chango willingly came in for his appointment, which is a huge win (not something he normally does)!

At home, Chango’s doing great, though he’s been sporting his "domes" (protective collars) to keep him from licking his healing paw. His incision is looking healthy, though it is still a little pink, and he’s enjoying some indoor fetch sessions. Sometimes, he limps a little outside, but overall, he’s comfortable. 🏀

Dr. Ross has given Chango the green light to gradually return to his normal activities, with no further rechecks needed. Of course, if the family has any questions along the way, we’re always here for them!

We’re so happy to have been part of Chango’s recovery journey. He’s such a good boy, and we love seeing him happy and healing well! ❤️

🎄 Meet Malitau, the mother of lions! 🦁 This fabulous 15-year-old feline needed surgery for a perineal hernia with herniation of the bladder, and we're so happy to share that she's back home with her loving family tonight! 🏠❤️

It was a team approach to help Malitau receive the care she needed and deserved. Her primary doctor, Dr. Hegarty, has been by her side, while Dr. Cortright performed the ultrasound. Dr. Socha performed her surgery and multiple LVT's and veterinary assistants helped care for this precious girl while she was here.

Here’s a special photo of Dr. Harris, Dr. Stelmach and LVT Susan, all decked out in their holiday sweaters and scrubs, giving Malitau the extra TLC she deserved! 🐾🎁

These sweet twin brothers were absolute stars during their wellness appointment with Dr. Tradel Harris today! 🌟 From their adorable snuggles to their curious little faces, Miso & Mochii were on their best behavior, making sure everyone at the clinic had a smile on their face. 😻

It’s always a joy to see our fur babies in good health, and these two are clearly thriving! Thanks to their amazing family for letting us share these precious moments with you all. 💙🐾

🐾 Meet Mabel! 🐾

Mabel is now 5 months old and is the most laid-back puppy her family has ever had! 🐶❤️ She's their 4th Boston Terrier, and we’re so lucky to be a part of her journey.

Her family shared the cutest photos with us and mentioned that Mabel absolutely LOVES Dr. Harris and especially the welcoming “Puppy Parties” that make her feel right at home. 🎉 After her vaccines and nail trim, Mabel had a little yawn and stretch – it’s safe to say she thinks every visit is a Spa Day! 😴💅

And let’s not forget about Lucy, Mabel's cat sibling! 🐱 Lucy loves her visits to VCA Colonial, too!

🐾 Meet Luke: A Senior Pup with a Heart of Gold 🐾 We are always happy to see Luke, who is a gorgeous 12-year-old Labrador Retriever, who came in today for his follow-up with Dr. Socha and the surgery team. Not only is this sweet senior boy full of love, but his family went above and beyond by brightening everyone's day by surprising us with a big delicious breakfast spread for the entire hospital team.
