Today some of the Oxley crew and the Cornell University Equestrian Team joined the Athletics team in the Out Of The Darkness Walk for su***de prevention and mental health awareness. As for many this is a subject that we all hold close to our hearts. What a great way to come together and support each other outside of the daily grind.

Every day leading up to Giving Day (this Thursday!) we are going to be highlighting one of our amazing ponies that are the heart of Cornell Polo 🚨🐎🎉

First up is Sonrisa!! Sonrisa, affectionately known as “Sonny”, is an absolute love bug in the barn, but also a beast in the arena. She is not afraid of anything and always gives it her all. She is truly the whole package: looks, personality, and pure athleticism. Sonrisa is a favorite in the women’s string, but also tears it up in men’s chukkers and loves to teach our first years the ropes too!!

To support Sonrisa and the rest of Cornell Polo’s 44 wonderful ponies, please consider supporting CU Polo this Giving Day. Your donations go a long way towards horse care including feed and board, veterinary and farrier bills, team travel, supplies and materials, and even more. The thing about horse people is that we love food. So a pizza party from our manager is fully appreciated! Shout out to Oxley manager Ian Barrie for treating his full time staff to an “Ian Loves Us Day”- starting off with delivered coffee, pizza, a whole lot of wings and ending by helping out with outside hay (for 50+ horses, it’s a big deal!). Our staff is essential to keeping the horses at Oxley healthy and happy and it’s great to have a leader to recognize the efforts put in!

Do you have a Cornell Alumni horse? Either past or present horses in your barn-we would like to see them!
We are starting a wall of pictures of horses who have retired from our teams (as well as PE). Without the horses, Oxley wouldn’t exist! If you have pictures of them living their best lives or in their second careers please send them to Skye-Anna at [email protected]. Please note that we will need relatively good resolution pictures and Facebook takes away resolution.
