My 5 day local State game trapping expedition is coming to an end. I seen these cameras out there and would love to see the pictures from me on them. The one by the water is facing a ditch in a good spot. First couple days I could cross on the ice. But the next day I tried to jump and ended up in the middle of the creek. My boot stuck in deep and stayed right there with me squishing down in mud with my sock on the next step. Today I found an old stick and I pole vaulted it. I bet the guy that owns the cameras had a good laugh this week!

Pictures from yesterday’s state land trap line. Ended up finding my first shed of the year and it was hanging from a tree! I caught 3 Raccoons, 1 Opossum and a Fox Squirrel.

Todays trap site before and after my trap is set. I walked in half mile on state land with all my supplies in my pack basket. Half way in I smell Bobcat and it’s fresh. All the way back I catch a whiff of cat and I’m thinking this has to be the spot. Then I set a trap In front of this stump and grab my lure. I realize the spray bottle of Bobcat urine is empty and that’s why it smells like cat so bad is because it’s all over inside my pack and the back of me!

Another Skunk call came in with the worst turf damage I have ever seen. Noticed the neighbors have the same problem today so more traps are set.

Gratiot County Big Buck Contest

Big thanks for all the volunteers and local sponsors at The Gratiot County Big Buck Pole and The Pins Bar & Grille. A record 67 Bucks were brought in to be entered in the opening day of the gun season event. All deer will be cut up and enjoyed by each lucky hunter with no meat wasted. The event raised $7100 for Gratiot County Big Brothers Big Sisters and $1680 for the Youth Archery Club building at the Gratiot County Fairgrounds.

Making St. Louis smell better! We finished the job in 3 days today. We caught what we were after yesterday but wanted to make sure he didn’t have companions. I have a feeling I could catch at least one animal every day for the next week over here.
