🐾It's Senior Pet Month!🐾
Learn How the Grooming Process Changes as Pets Age:

We know how difficult things can be as the owner of an aging pet. We know it's hard to watch them slowing down, sleeping more, having aches and pains, health problems, and even sometimes behaviors changing. Caring for senior pets requires extra care not only at home, but in the grooming salon as well!

Some senior pet behaviors and challenges we have to consider while here for grooming:

💜 increase in joint pain, less mobility
💜 a decline in hearing and eyesight
💜 confusion/dementia-type behavior
💜 less patience and tolerance with the grooming process, that tolerance decreases over time
💜 less cooperative: thay have a hard time being still, they pull their legs and head away, they try to get off the grooming table and bathtub, they are more likely to bite

Be sure to see your pet's veterinarian for questions and concerns about aging. Please keep us in the loop of communication regarding their recommendations. We see many dogs given rescue anti-anxiety medications (given at the time of the stressor). While these may work great for you at home, sometimes these medications actually make the grooming process more difficult. Ask us for more details!

Here at KC Pet Spaw, we are committed to caring for your aging pet. Our motto will always be "humanity over vanity". We will only do what they can tolerate and nothing more. Sometimes this means we need to change their haircut, grooming process, etc. as time goes on. But we want nothing more than to keep your senior pets as happy and comfortable as possible 💜

“Pure bred rough coat collie. We are moving and it will be very difficult to show the house with the dog and we can’t take him with us to an apartment.
8 or 9 years old. His teeth are not great.
Does not like the lawn mower, garden tractor or motorcycles. Does not like thunder.
Does bark at you when you leave.
He is a very loving dog. Eats dry food, does not fetch.”

🚌August/September 2024 updates:

Can you believe school starts right around the corner?!

🚌 we are NOT accepting any new clients at this time.
🚌we are BOOKED around 5-6 weeks out. Please if you know your schedule book 1-2 appointments out so that we are able to get you in you desired time and day!
🚌 please if you must cancel give us as much of a heads up as possible! Also, make sure the appointment is marked on your calendars at home!
🚌 please also remember we have drop off and pick up times, be on time! We do not have space to keep dogs for extended periods of time. Plus we love to keep the grooming salon as calm as possible for every dog!
