Update on Sasha - it has been over a week and Sasha has not needed assistance in getting up , she’s been doing everything herself without any help for a solid week ! Sasha has a new friend she likes to graze with , his name is Meister and he doesn’t leave her side . Every day we watch her confidence build especially since grazing with the other horses . She has such a sweet , loving and playful personality which has really been showing a lot lately ! She has come such a long way from where she started and we could not be more proud of the progress she is making.

SASHA UPDATE: Sasha laid down again last night and still isn’t strong enough to stand back up in her own. She has been with us for 35 days now, and though she is getting better by the day, she still has many days ahead of her. Sasha is getting to go out to our small pasture to graze and walk around during the day, at night she is brought in to be fed again. She is excited in the mornings to go to pasture and is making a friends with another horse of ours in recovery. Thank you all for your support! RESCUE UPDATES:

The chesnut mare has been named Sasha and she has been doing great! Today is three weeks . We are still gradually increasing her feed. She is down to four feedings a day, a bag of hay AND is getting back on pasture. She is up to a couple hours a day and increasing every other day. She has given us a few scares by having to lift her in her stall when she can’t stand up after laying down, but she is getting better and stronger every day! We are starting to see a little light in her eyes and she is starting to perk up. Her personality is starting to show through. Sasha’s coat is getting healthy and shiny with good nourishment and grooming. Sasha still has a long way to go to getting back healthy: a lot of vetting and groceries! But she is on the right track!

The Piggies are growing so fast! We have 5 females and 2 males! They are escaping their stalls, and running around the bar with the rescue kitten from I-20 and the Coal, my stray found in the back pasture. It’s been quite the “Funny Farm” around here lately. The two boys need to be castrated and everyone needs to be wormed. It’s time for vaccinations again as well ! All the piglets and the two sows will be available for adoption! We wouldn’t mind if ONE were to not get adopted, they sure are cute, fun and sweet.

Please continue to pray for our sweet Sasha and if you are interested in adopting one of our piglets or sows, shoot us a message!

And most of all THANK YOU!!! Thank y’all for the support to keep helping these beautiful souls! Thank you for the likes, shares and prayers! Thank you for the donations! If you are interested in volunteering, please send us a message. Below is a link to donate, please consider contributing to the health and recovery of these guys. THANK Y’ALL!

RESCUE UPDATE:

Good morning! We’ve had a busy couple of days, so let’s get y’all filled in.

Wednesday night was another late night. Our sweet chestnut was just plain exhausted . She laid down in her stall to rest but when she tried to stand she couldn’t get back up. Our first shot at hoisting her snapped one of the ceiling joists in my barn. We laid her back down, made sure she had access to hay and water and just allowed her to rest and regain strength for about or two. After resuporting the beam, and rigging up the hoists again, Keilah and Vicky gave her a hand full of grain for energy and excitement. Trey, George, Devin, Abby, Ashley, Stacey and I worked on lifting and balancing her. It took us getting her about 80% up with little to no help from her, but we got there then she stood up like she had been doing it all day. Once on her feet Stacey took her into the aisle of the barn and continued walking for about 45 mins to help her stretch out her joints and get some flex back in them.

Yesterday, Dr. Vice came out. We got some bloodwork pulled, gave most of her vaccines, will start her on SafeGuard, then in two weeks we’ll go back to worm again with Strongid. She is still much too weak for more vetting procedures but once we have weight on her and she is healthier, we will go back to Doc and have some more work done on her.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, prayed, liked, shared, and volunteered. We have a volunteer orientation in the works! Please message us if you would be interested! To donated and support this beautiful girl and the group that rescued her please click the link below! THANK YOU!

RESCUE UPDATE: Our sweet chesnut rescue is getting stronger and stronger each day. Her personality is starting to come through, and she is the sweetest. Her feet aren’t too terrible, possibly due to lack of nutrition. After her bath her coat looks good and should only improve with proper nutrients and care. She is going to need lots of groceries, supplements, supplies and vetting. Please continue to donate, like share, support and volunteer. Message us for volunteer opportunities! RESCUE UPDATE:

I’m sorry for the late post, we have been working tirelessly on the bay mare. First let me tell you how great the chesnut is doing! She is standing up, bright eyed and bushy tailed! She is eating away at her hay bag, drinking plenty of water and making good progress! She has a LONG way to go, but does seem to be heading in the right direction.

The bay is not doing well at all and is still down. We tried to let her rest more this morning so we could lift her this afternoon. Mississippi Horse Rescue loaned us their hoisting straps, and we began lifting her to her feet. We worked on getting her up and cradling her for six hours, in the end, just just wasn’t helping herself at all. She would try for a while and just give out. With the weight the back half of her body all in her stomach across the strap, we decided to take the strain off her and bring her back down for the night. We have given her another bag of fluids, and our intention is to prop her up as best as possible, face her to the stall across the aisle from her and move her chesnut friend there. We are hoping that over night she will rest and regain strength. She has ample hay in front of her, loving people, and her friend across the aisle. Mrs. Vicki decided to name her Misty. So! Misty needs all your prayers, love, good vibes and thoughts. We’ll update you in the morning as to whether she made it through the night or not.

Thank you all for your support. Please continue to like and share! Volunteer if you can and if you can donate please do! The link is below. THANK YOU!!!

Stephanie of Mississippi Horse Rescue received a call from Hinds County SO for two horses being seized on a cruelty case. Due to having just taken in 100 minis they asked if we had space available. When we got to the pasture both horses were extremely emaciated, laying on their side and appeared lifeless. The bay horse did sit up but even when lifted by the tractor she couldn’t stay on her feet. We had to drag her onto the trailer where she laid all the way to our barn. The chestnut was able to stand up with the help of Mrs. Stephanie’s husband, Bill and his tractor and she remained on her feet. One of our guys, Stacey, rode in the trailer with her after we rigged a sling around her chest to help keep her up on the trip home.

Once we got them to the barn, both horses received a bag of fluids each. The chestnut was able to walk to her stall and is standing and eating a little hay and a few handfuls of feed. The bay still can’t stay on her feet so we have some hay and a bucket of water in front of her in her stall.

These two poor souls are going to need it all; vet visits, farrier work, and a TON of groceries. Guys, we need your help! Whatever you can help with, we greatly appreciate it! Likes, shares, thoughts, prayers, volunteer, and of course monetary donations! Thank you all for all of you support! You can donate at the link below. We’ll update again in the morning. Thank you!

Yesterday we got a call from a neighbor about a bunch of pigs wandering loose, rooting up hers and other neighbors' yards. One of the piglets was killed when it wandered too close to a neighbor's tied up dog. We were able to rescue the nursing Mama and 7 piglets. Please help us raise funds so that we can get them vetted and cared for until they are old enough for everyone to be adopted.

If you are able to donate, this is our link to make donations through the Community Foundation.
