This handsome fella is up for adoption!!

Meet Gauge! He came to MCHS with his mom, aunt, and 7 littermates because a family was evicted from a farm place and left them all behind. All ten of them, including Gauge were adopted after a few months.

Gauge was adopted to a hobby farm. He was an inside/outside dog, and the plan was that he would protect the livestock. Apparently, Gauge thought the plan included him "playing" with the goats. The fence to keep him away from the goats was not enough of a deterrent. While Gauge did not kill any of the goats, he did chew on their ears. After several months the family gave up and returned Gauge to MCHS.

Gauge has been waiting for 9 months this time for a family. He is no longer the cute puppy he was when first up for adoption. He is now a large (~100 lb) adult. Gauge is our largest dog but he is also our mellowest. He spends much of his outside time lounging on top of a flat-topped doghouse contentedly watching the world go by. He does great with the other dogs, is not much of a barker, and is basically a big sweetie.

We originally told people that Gauge and his litter were half Presa Canario (a type of mastiff) with shepherd mix. A DNA test was done on one of his littermates, and they were half Presa Canario but despite his mother's looks there is no German Shepherd in the mix. (15% Great Pyrenees, 10% Mountain Cur, 8.5% Catahoula Leopard Dog, 8% Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and 8% Lab).

Gauge is calmly waiting for someone to notice what a great dog he is and join their family.

Happy Sunday! 🤩

Play & Stay has an exciting opportunity to relocate to a larger facility. Not only will this offer bigger & better everything with potential to add all the good stuff- larger outside play area, indoor/outdoor kennels, kitty boarding, a grooming area, and even horse boarding in the future, but it will also give me the ability to hire help, bring back regular daycare/playdates, all.of.the.things. 🥳 Only catch is it’ll require a longer commute for some, and 3/4 mile of gravel travel. The address is technically Lakefield, but it's rural, near Clear Lake. My question is, how will this affect your decision on where you board your pet? Obviously this will take some time & will be quite the process, but I'd just love to get some feedback! 🤗

It’s time for a shout out…. 🤗 and I’ll be honest, this is wayyyyy overdue, but I just never know to how put into words just how much I appreciate her. I’m forever in debt to her & thank you will never be enough.

Although Play & Stay appears to be & majority of the time is ran solo by me, I am far from solo. Solo shmolo— ain’t nobody out there that can do all the things on their own.

This girl. This is my behind the scenes girl. She’s my go-to when I’m in a pinch girl. She’s my bedtime chore girl, my occasional early morning girl when I need a day to sleep in. Shes my daily affirmation girl. She’s my fancy social media video girl, cuz let’s be honest— totally not my jam, and if I manage to post this without her help it’ll be a god damn miracle 🤣🤷🏻‍♀️ She’s my shoulder to cry on & then picks me up & reminds me that I can do this girl.

Chances are if your dog has stayed with me, she not only knows them by name, but loves them as hard as I do. When I say that everyone needs a Laura in their life, I mean it.

And I’m so, so glad she’s mine. 🤍

Everyone here at Play & Stay hopes you all have had a fun & safe Memorial Day weekend 💕🐾

Erika here, popping in to say hello.👋🏼 I realize Play & Stay’s social media has gotten quiet and I’m so sorry for that. My fun & bubbly videos weren’t so fun & bubbly for a while, and I didn’t feel like sharing that with the world. 🌎💕 Despite what most of you see on the surface- happy go lucky Erika- life happened & things got a little dark & quiet for a minute. But, Play & Stay has not been quiet. In fact, I’m currently wrapping up the weekend of my busiest month to date with a full kennel & 28 house calls this holiday weekend. 💪🏼👏🏼💕 I’m so thankful for all of these 4-legged loves. They’ve gotten me out of bed on the days that I otherwise wouldn’t have. Let’s be honest, dog kisses really do make everything better. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So, I’m sending out the biggest THANK YOU to all of you who trust me to care for your 4-legged family. And thank you for letting me get a little raw, after all I am human & life outside of work can & will get shaken up from time to time. But, because of all of YOU… Play & Stay Pet Resort is here to stay. 💕🐾💪🏼
