RASCAL UNIT SCHEDULING

We are beginning our 2025 Rascal Unit scheduling for Jackson County at this time. The first clinic is April 11, 2025.

Sign-ups will be done differently this year. Please send a TEXT to 740/978-0424 with the following information:

Your name
Your telephone Number
Number of cats or dogs to schedule

Please keep the message short with only the above information. Someone will call you when there is an open spot for you. When you are called to schedule you will need to pay a $40 deposit per animal via debit or credit card. This deposit will be applied to your total cost. Deposits will not be refunded if you do not show up for your appt.

Please do not call the above number to schedule an appt. You must send a text to get on the list.

Did you know a Box turtle only roams 1 mile its whole life? If it is removed from its area/home then for the rest of its life it will roam aimlessly stressed out... trying to find "home" until it dies a very sad death.

Please do not remove turtles. Do not take them home as pets. If one is injured please mark the exact spot found for the wildlife center. If a turtle is in the road you can help by moving it directly across the street in the direction it was heading. Thank you!

I post this every few months because it's not really known. Many people think it is harmless to let their children take home a docile turtle to play with and release it someplace they see appropriate. I was once that kid. Please share the knowledge.

A warning about water that doesn't run and especially those farm ponds.

If you have animals who can drink out of a pond where there would be fertilizer run off, and the weather gets hot and dry, then blue green algae bloom could cause serious problems for you.

Blue green algae can thrive in a pond and not even necessarily be seen. When animals drink contaminated water it can cause muscle tremors, severe respiratory distress, liver failure, diarrhea and other severe issues that often lead to death.

Now is the time of year where this algae bloom most often occurs.

This warning includes dogs, horses, cows, and many other creatures.

We will also have licenses on hand if you need to purchase one.

The K-9 Clovers 4H club will be there selling homemade dog treats and other goodies to raise money for their club. Check it out!
