Hey everyone! I just wanted to put out a reminder for the season of shedding! Aussies do not have typical “fur” like other dogs, their coat is more like our hair than you might think. So when grooming, be sure you’re using the proper tools to help you and your pup! Experts say that the best brushes to use on aussies are going to be slicker brush’s and metal combs or even brushes we’d use on our hair at home! When grooming your pups never use a double coat brush or rake as you could damage their hair. Coming from experience- I used a double coat by mistake on uncle Oscar and his butt floof had bald spots that never grew back and damaged the hair there. You’ll know your pup has damaged hair if it doesn’t grow back the same or feels like you put your hair in an iron too long and is that crisp nasty feeling. When taking your pups to groomers make sure you ask if they have experience with Aussies as they are so unique. Ask for photos of past Aussie clients as well. Make sure you are NOT shaving your Aussie as their hair can get extremely damaged and may not grow back. Attached below are some links of a slicker brush and a metal comb as well as a good vitamin for coat health if you need to help with damaged coats ❤️❤️ I hope this helps everyone!!
