Experiencing the wind through your hair on the back of a horse is just such a wonderful experience of a lifetime! It was a perfect day to enjoy a multi hour trail ride at Perrineville lake park trail access. Galloping through paths, exploring the trails and lots of laughs! These are the moments we live for ❤️ starting at the end of September we will be back to regularly going to the Perrineville lake park trail access so we will have slots to book for our boarders, leasers and advanced beginner+ students (11+ in age). Once we have set dates signs ups will be on the page so stay tuned! Enjoy some beautiful pics and video clips from today's ride out there.
Today was a prime example of why we wear helmets and to always expect the unexpected! We choose to do one of the most dangerous sports there is, we ride 1,000+lb animals that have minds of their own. Absolutely Anything can happen in a split second. Today's example is from the cowboy barrels (using cones) demonstration where me and Celeste were going beautifully until we weren't. In a split second she fell and landed on my leg, smashed my left side hard into the ground. This was a total FREAK accident. But in life with horses stuff happens. Does it suck falling off, hitting the ground, breaking bones?? Yes BUT we dust our butts off, get back on and continue. Why? Because we love horse's and we love this sport.
EVERYONE eventually falls, it's not a if it's a when. At the end of the day you pat your horse, give them treats, go rest and go again the next day! Today was a good lesson learned that every one does fall, and how to handle the situation!
* yes I'm going to get looked at*
Thank you Sheila for getting it on video!
Every rider needs to at least once in their life to go gallop on the beach horseback! It's the most freeing you will ever feel! Enjoy the montage of clips from today's beach ride. Facebook wouldn't allow me to post them all together individually so I had to make a montage. And yes I'm FINALLY on tiktok. Our tiktok account will only be for our rescue horses journeys, standardbred journeys and off property adventures / shows. Feel free to follow!
Ok yall don't mind my absolutely horrible drawing , but you will get the idea of what i'm talking about with it. We have a lot going on starting in march! Starting off with the field getting excavated, Following up with construction of some new tack sheds, along with the big wooden run in refix. A lot of volunteer opportunity time, will be starting up along with other opportunities for our regular students. Stay tuned for more information on when everything starts! This is a big year for change and a bigger opportunity for growth ❤️ we have so much planned for 2024!
Night farm check done. Horses aren't minding the storm at all. They could care less. Only caring about their hay. Yall asking about lessons tomorrow, it's not top Priority right now. We got A LOT of water! This storm isn't anywhere done yet so who knows what damages will come over night. Our top priority is making sure we get through this storm Without significant damages. We will update everyone in the morning about lessons but know most likely they will not be happening tomorrow due to the insane amount of rain alone. But stay tuned!
Competitors for our farms fun show this Saturday listen up!!!!
We are adding a FUN class at the end of the day (will happen after keyhole). This is just a $5 class! It's for fun and games and to see who can do it 🙃
It's called FLAG RACE! Below is a demo video on how it's done. Don't mind me who you know isn't supposed to be riding yet lol.
You can go any speed you want but you must get the flag from one bucket to the other without missing the bucket or dropping it.
To keep it fair for everyone we won't be practicing this event! It's a go and see for fun! Great opportunity to test your skills on something new and fun!
Remember to sign up for this special event for the farm show this Saturday the 10th.
** can be ridden English or western!**
Here's a quick snap video from some of the many fun gallops on the beach today. I know I had some asking to see and I unfortunately couldn't go live as my fingers were freezing so I could only hold my phone for a short few seconds. This is an experience of a lifetime for horseback riders! Nothing like being as free as the wind!
Man oh man we got a LOT of rain today. The ring is finally clearing out some. Thankfully the ring drains into the back woods so the water won't stick around for to long. This is hours after the rain had stopped for now. Needless to say this is why we don't ride in the ring when it's bad out, this right here is a recipe for a disaster! Can't tell you how many times I've had horses slip and trip in conditions like this so when it's this bad, it is why we close the farm for lessons. We look out for the safety of our horses and riders!
Who's excited for the spring series hunter pace this Sunday! Going to be a fabulous day for the 8 mile pace! We will be closed Sunday as we will be out for the Monmouth county hunt with our team. Perfect opportunity to show your stamina and strength through a very challenging pace against tough competition. This isn't for the faint of heart or inexperienced riders (between jumping high jumps and going up and down hills that are steep as heck and so forth). Here was a clip from our last pace which was the first one of the season. It was pouring down rain and cold. We were only 9 minutes off from the hunt master who set the pace early in the morning. I'll be recording this one the whole time with my GoPro strapped to my chest while riding Porky so it's going to be interesting. For our fall series we will be having two more spots open for two more experienced riders who can go on our secondary trailer once it's fixed up :)
