in Jackson, NJ is a small not for profit [501c3] rescue that works very hard finding permanent homes for dogs who need a second or third or fourth chance at happiness. All dogs are completely vetted, shots, blood tests, spay/neuter [if necessary]. You will never get "a pig in a poke" when you adopt from Wilma's Orphans. Each dog's temperament and personality is well-known so prospective adopters a
re fully informed before adopting. There are a variety of breeds, mixes, sizes, shapes, sexes, ages and colors. All dogs are spayed or neutered before adoption. The adoption process consists of an application, home visit, contract, and donation. Please look at all the sweet faces imploring you to take them home. You just might find the "love of your life" at Wilma's Orphans.

STUBBY has left the orphanage. He arrived here a really "hot mess". Apparently he was surrendered by a family who had no clue how to treat/train him but he has come a long way in the year he has been here. I am sure Katherine & Ryan are up to helping be the best loving dog he could be.

UPDATE: Archie has been adopted. Will be going to his new home today.
The newest, Snuggles, & the current, Archie, residents waiting for their new families. Snuggles arrived yesterday. He is a 10 yo Cavalier King Charles Spaniel suffering from "cherry eye" which will be treated before being available for adoption. Archie is a 6 yo Shorkie [ShihTzu/Yorkie] who has been here longer than expected. We will be starting a fundraiser for Snuggles' surgery. UPDATE: Went to visit John & Mr B who is now Jack, in honor of Jack London, to finalize Jack's adoption. He was not happy to see me thought I had come to take him back. Went into his crate & hid. John was able to put his harness on so they can now go for long walks around the neighborhood.
Jack may not have been pleased to see me but he had no idea how happy I was to see him and to hear how well he is adjusting to John & his new life. I just love happy ending...
This is the most surprising, absolutely amazing picture I ever expected to see. Mr B who furiously guarded his crate, who wasn't particularly friendly outside of it either but took treats so gently from your hand. Talk about a contradiction in personality. Well it looks like he has finally found a place to let go all his fears & bad memories. I just knew John would be the perfect one to adopt Mr B. Wishing them both a happy peaceful life together.

Look at Remie's eyes in the third crated picture. What do you think she is trying to say. "Won't someone come and adopt me so I can get out of this cage."
Remie came up from West Virginia in August, 2021. She was welcomed as a friend by my existing pack Beauty, Gypsy, & the Beagle. As luck would have it the friendship didn't last. And Remie was the loser. She was in danger of losing her leg but luckily it didn't happen. She healed fine and holds no grudges.
Remie is only 1+ years old and weighs about 50 lbs. She is a loving, sweet girl who would do well with a dog experienced active family with children over10. If you are interested in meeting Remie submit the application at [email protected].
After a long dry spell we are celebrating Sophie's arrival at her
new home with Donna & Carl. She is so happy playing with her new toys in all the running room she could ask for. Thank you for giving her the perfect home.
Sonny has left the room and Fester has entered to take his place.
Fester is a Doxie/Beagle mix, 2 yo/24 lbs, house trained, crate trained, neutered, UTD on vaccinations. Is used to using a doggy door into the backyard.
He is shy & nervous at first meeting but warms up with kisses & cuddles. A quiet home with an experienced family would be perfect.

This is the playroom where Bella, Rico, Sonny & Oliver have been hanging out. Sonny is waiting for his grooming on Monday in preparation for his going to his new home on the February 11th. Oliver is also waiting for his new family to take him home. Need to have him to the vet...he is 13-1/2, is intact, needs a dental desperately, has a huge cyst that needs testing BUT he has a 4/5 heart murmur. Not sure the vet will give us the go ahead for any of them. All depends on what the vet thinks & which would be the most important if we had to choose.
Bella & Rico have been here since July, that's a long time, waiting for their new family to come take them home. They are going to be very lonely wondering where Oliver & Sonny have gone and how come nobody has come for them. Come on people there must be someone out there who wants 2 fur babies to love & care for. Contact me for more information if interested. And share this to all your contacts so they can share in turn.
The other good news concerns Buster nka Bozzio, the 12 yo Pomapoo who doesn't realize he is 12. He has gone to live in Bayonne with Gracie & Rhona & Roger.
He appropriated Gracie's large bed & Gracie who is a large greyhound squeezed into his small bed.
That was the sad news...now for the good news.
Chessey, nka Chip, has gone to live in Connecitcut with Bunker & Erica & Gary.

This is Shensi who arrived here one year ago due to his owner passing. He was 16 yo & in pretty bad shape. Was hard of hearing, needed grooming & had a bad case of dry eye [blind] which required a trip to the ophthalmologist: drops 3 times a day. The first pix was after he weas groomed & had seen my vet & Dr Ringle at RBVH. The second pix was this past Wednesday before he went to "the bridge". He turned 17 this month but his quality of life had been deteriorating for a while & we determined it was time. "Run free Baby"
Another bonded pair of the sweetest Pittie puppies, Sugar & Spice, have left the orphanage. They have gone to live with a wonderful family where Juliet has Spice and Melanie has Sugar. Perfect matches...
Meet Frankie, a 6 mo Shihpoo. He is waiting for his perfect family. We will be accepting applications found on www.wilmasorphans com. Must have a vet reference.
Well the last of the 3 Musketeers has left the house. MoJo has gone to live with Angelo & Rose & "Spotty" their 18 yo cat. MoJo is absolutely obsessed with Spotty. Kept following him around wanting to play with him but Spotty wasn't the least bit interested. It was fun watching the interaction considering MoJo did not want anything to do with the dogs here.
The second of the 3 Musketeers, CISCO, the 11 yo long haired Chihuahua, has left the house. He has gone to live with the Giarusso family which includes Casper the 119 lb Great Pyrenes, & Liberty the 60 lb German Shepherd who is kinda antisocial
UPDATE...Beauty is not for adoption. I have gone against my usual protocol & FELL IN LOVE. So Beauty will be staying here with me. She is learning to be less afraid. We are walking twice every day weather permitting. Lots of baby steps but we have plenty of time.
This is Beauty, an 8 mo mix of Great Dane, Catahoula Leopard dog, Pit Bull & some other various unknown breeds. She was petrified upon arrival, had to be carried to my Durango. When we got home it took me over 3 hours to get her out of the crate & into the house. She is still scared but getting better. Beauty will not be ready for adoption for at least a month. She needs time to overcome her fear & timidity. She also needs to be spayed. I will be taking applications in advance. No apartment dwellers, might end up being an only dog, no young children.
