Please note that AHVC will be CLOSING early on 8/30/24 at 12pm.
Plan accordingly for all medication and food pick ups! All boarding pick ups and/or drop offs will be either 9am-11:30am or 5pm on 8/30.
Normal boarding pick up/drop off on 8/31-9/2 will be 9am-9:15am or 5pm-5:15pm.
We will resume normal business hours 9/3 at 8am!

❤️🤍💙 Some IMPORTANT Holiday Weekend Reminders! ❤️🤍💙
If you're taking your pets anywhere this holiday weekend, please keep in mind they can't tell you what's too hot and what hurts! If the pavement is too hot for your hands, it's too hot for their paws! 🐾
Never leave your pet in the car, even just for a "minute." Outside temperature of 80 degrees means a car can get up to 100-104 degrees in less than 10 minutes. 115-120 degrees in less than 30 minutes. 🤒
Monitor them closely, and don't let them out of your sight. When fireworks are getting ready to start, keep them in a secure and safe room with calming white noise.

We still have no phones except our 1 emergency cell phone, no internet, and only one medical system we can access to put in notes, appts, charges, and everything else! BUT we are here making the absolute best of it! 🥰

He was loving on all the staff, PURRING like a motor, and feasting on all the spray cheese he could get! 🐱🧀😍
Each and every one of the AHVC staff members takes great pride in our Fear Free certifications. We absolutely love that we can make appointments for our patients as best of an experience as we can!

✈️🏝🏖 Important Message from Griffin! 🏖🏝✈️
Hey Everybody,
It’s Griffin from the front desk here to have a quick chat about coughing. 😷
We can all get a pesky cough from seasonal allergies, the flu, or even just a dry throat. While it is very common in humans, when it comes to our pets, a cough may be a sign of something more serious. So, if you notice your pet is coughing, what does it mean, and what should you do? 🤔
For both our dog and cat lovers, there are different viruses that can begin as a cough:
▪️ If your pup has a social lifestyle such as going to the groomer or is boarding while you enjoy your vacation in Cabo, they are more susceptible to what we call Kennel Cough. 🐶
▪️ For cats, coughing can be an indication of a respiratory disease like Leukemia, Pneumonia, or other viruses. 🐱
▪️ All of these and other diseases are highly contagious and can be transmitted either through airborne droplets, touching noses, or sharing a bowl. 💧
If you notice your pet is coughing, whether once or multiple times a day, give us a call. 📞 The best way to deal with these viruses is to treat them early (and stay vaccinated!). When you come for your visit, you’ll need to call from your car; we have an alternate side entrance that leads directly into an exam room. As we care for your pet, we want to make sure other patients are also protected from potential viruses. ‼️

🪷🧘🏼‍♀️🎼 Fear Free Space 🎼🧘🏼‍♀️🪷
Our patient here has a really hard time at the vets office. He becomes so anxious and nervous that he doesn't act like his normal self. 🫣 So how did we create a Fear Free Space for him to feel comfortable and be himself? 🤔
1. Medications - we gave him a few different medications so we could remove sutures from his tail injury. 💊
2. A quiet room - we moved him to our procedure room where there is less noise and no traffic. 🤫
3. Comfort - we brought a comfy blanket for him to lay down on. 🧸
4. Music - our marketing coordinator turned her phone on with some calming music to help ease his stress. 🎶
5. Tone - we talked softly and smoothly to the patient to not raise his anxiety level. 💓
And all of this took us quite some time, but it created the 🪷 BEST 🪷 vet experience he has ever had. This is why we take Fear Free so seriously and why we pride ourselves in our Behavioral Exams and knowledge. 🦸🏻‍♀️

🪒🪒🪒 Why Does My Pet Have a Shaved Spot?! 🪒🪒🪒
We always inform our clients that we may need to shave a spot to get a blood sample from their pet. But just in case we ever forget to tell you, we thought this post may be informational! 🥰
When obtaining a blood sample, it is always best to shave a small section of their fur away so we can best see their veins and create a smoother experience for the patient! Because no one wants to be poked more than once! 🥴

When the patient is almost as tall as the Veterinary Assistant! 🤣
Our patient came in for some annual updates and became very curious as to what the odd object was on our treatment table! Needless to say, it didn't take any stretching at all for him to see what it was! 🤣

Kibby Park Animal Hospital is looking to help get some boy kitties neutered for cheap to help the cat population. See their post below for more information!!!

The Jackson Cat Project is looking for male kitties in need of sterilization! Please contact Sue at [email protected] for more information.
The Jackson Cat Project charges a fee of $10 for an exam, sterilization, and Rabies vaccination per cat - feral cats also include an ear tip to identify the individual cat as sterilized post procedure. These male cats will be sterilized at Kibby Park Animal Hospital and scheduling will take place following your email to Sue.

🧊🧊👶🏼 Ice Ice Baby! 🧊🧊👶🏾
Our VPA Andrea was taking care of our patient post surgery from having his cruciate ligament repaired! He absolutely loved having her beside him icing his leg, and she absolutely loved how sweet and handsome he was! 😍
We did hear her taking quite a lot of photos of him, and with each photo we'd hear "look how cute you are," "oh my gosh you're so handsome," "such a good boy!". 😏😆

A few days ago we had a very small kitten come in with some chronic eye issues (today we are removing one of the eyes completely) and our LVT Holly held some chlorhex soaked gauzes to the patients eyes while our Vet Assistant Kheya gave the patient some cuddy stability! 🐱
