CARA volunteer page provides information to the folks that volunteer with CARA. We currently have about 150 dogs and cats. We are not supported by any taxes.
CARA is a no-kill animal shelter that promotes the rescue, care, and placement of CARA dogs and cats. We rely on our volunteers to help us care for our dogs and cats. And we are so grateful that our volunteers do help us so much! From cleaning kennels, picking up branches in the Bark Park, bathing puppies so they can go to adoption events, socializing with our senior dogs, helping at adoption even
ts...........the list goes on. Our volunteers are essential to CARA and to our dogs and cars. CARA wouldn't be CARA and couldn't be CARA - without volunteers!

Large amounts of supplies are necessary to care for the animals at our facility. If you are able to donate any of the items listed below, you can drop-off them off when it is convenient for you (see our drop off list below) or we can arrange to have them picked up.

CARA Shelter Vols --- Those interested in socializing with the shelter pups may volunteer Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 am to 3 pm. You must be 18 to volunteer, or 16 with signed parental waiver. (If under 18, your parent/guardian must sign the waiver in person the first time you volunteer). Long pants and close toed shoes (i.e., tennis shoes) required. VOLS MUST FOLLOW SHELTER STAFF INSTRUCTIONS.

Gift Wrapping for Tips for CARA
Now through December 24 – (3 hour time slots)
CARA needs vols to help gift wrap at Barnes and Noble this holiday season for tips for CARA. CARA fliers will be available to hand out, for those interested in CARA. Barnes & Noble provides the gift wrapping materials.
1) To volunteer, sign up through Barnes & Nobles "Sign Up Genius account" @ https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e4ba9a92fa7fa7-barnes
2) Vols sign up for 3-hour time slots. Vols may volunteer on their own or with a partner.
3) Starting Dec. 14, there is an option for Table 1 or Table 2 ... Table 1 is the preferred table.
4) When filling out your last name, put "- CARA" next to it to illustrate you are volunteering with CARA ... e.g., Jane Doe - CARA.
5) You MUST include your phone number & e-mail. It will be how Barnes & Noble store staff send you a volunteer reminder.

Given such, volunteers are essential to helping CARA meet its mission of serving rescue dogs and cats. From cleaning kennels, doing yard work in the park, bathing puppies so they can go to adoption events, helping at adoption events...........the list goes on.
Shelter Orientation - now each Saturday at CARA 9 am. Can’t make it to orientation? Just ask for Britt Castle at the shelter.
Age Requirements – Ages 14 thru 17 must first have parent or guardian sign volunteer waiver. Those ages 18 and over must first sign volunteer waiver.
Dress code – Must wear long pants and close toed shoes (e.g., tennis shoes or boots, no sandals). Work gloves recommended.
Special Skills? Let Us Know! – If you have special training/skills such as carpentry, painting, graphics/design, photography, medical records/filing, etc., we have potential tasks for you.
