PATIENCE
The thing that goes beyond hustle and hard work
Time and discipline
Sometimes you have to take it too far to never come up short…
So what’s more dangerous?
Someone who’s not afraid to die or someone who’s found everything to live for?
Daydreaming….
Daydreaming of 65 degree water marks 💭

Our view from the line this morning! Hard to beat and we are sitting in the shade with a little breeze 😍🙏
Dusti’ has been an obedience student of mine for the past 5 weeks and he gets to go back to his forever home next weekend
I figured I’d film the first few minutes of today considering I was throwing something new at him. This was not rehearsed at all… Not only was this his first time training in front of another dog but he has never seen these 3 dogs before in his life. My gundogs do this often for my obedience dogs so they are used to it but I did not expect this to go so smooth first try! My man nailed it
I can’t exaggerate enough how much I love working with this breed. I’ve had the pleasure of working with several GSP’s over the last few years and they never disappoint

One of our “Puppy Head Start” students soaking up some cuddle time with my personal dog Elly this morning! Watch till the end… 🖤-We have “Loretta” and her littermate “Conway” here getting a head start on life and a head start on learning life skills as a working dog. So far they have been awesome to have around the kennel #PuppyHeadStart#CoastalCarolinaGunDogs
“Hold Conditioning” Day 4
‘Smoke’ is doing excellent! This is what we’re looking for. He’s nice and stable but most importantly giving pressure with the top and bottom jaw
-
You can see me close my fist when he starts to roll his tongue and once he settles back in I slowly unball the fist letting him know that’s not acceptable
-
Challenge the hold! He might know to settle in and give me a calm demeanor but I wanna know if he really understands what hold means! You can see me moving side to side, up down, forward and backwards and I think it’s safe to say he understands!
-
We will follow up on the next stages as we transition into force fetch!

New kid on the block and here is a little look at just our very first training session together💪🏻
-
There is a method to the madness.. Absolutely no talking going on AT ALL! It’s all about letting him figure it out on his own. Little enticement with body movements and maybe a little sound with the mouth for an attention getter and that’s it. We are just marking/rewarding good decisions
-
There is so much being taught here and I’m not forcing anything or asking him to do anything for that matter. Just making sure we reward the good decisions as soon as he’s making them. Timing is 🔑
-
This little man will be a familiar face here at the kennel for a long time and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for him🖤

Things I think about when I’m in the thick of it..
-
Why I’m doing this, what I’m fighting for, who I’m fighting for and most importantly who I want to become to protect all three
-
The desire to get out and make a name for myself is stronger than ever. Long ladder to scale with zero signs of stopping

‘Kilo’
Day 4 of pinch collar conditioning
Just conditioning the “sit” command
A client contacted me about ‘Kilo’ a few weeks back asking me if I would evaluate his pup. He told me ‘Kilo’ previously spent 10 weeks in an obedience program elsewhere. He was very nervous around people, would coward down and pee when it came to any interaction with people or other dogs. It seems the whole experience didn’t go so well
Judged by his characteristics when he first came to me I immediately assumed a few things
1. Kilo was not trained for 10 weeks he just spent 10 weeks at a kennel
2. Assuming he was only socialized (if any) in very little moderation
3. As soon as we walked into my kennel he would anxiously look around and freeze almost like he wasn’t kennel/crate trained or just had a bad experience entering a kennel with other dogs
4. Goes along with 3 ⬆️ .... I am assuming whoever was handling ‘Kilo’ either while in the airing yard or just in general they would let all the dogs in at once while some of the dogs may have been kennel trained ‘Kilo’ was not so the outcome was somebody calling him by name a handful of times and than resorting to grabbing him by the scruff of the neck and tossing him into a kennel
5. He was familiar with a place board and that was THE ONLY thing he was comfortable with and even was a little hesitant
This left a lot of doubt and uncertainty in my clients mind
I drove to see ‘Kilo’ in person and potentially take him home. I opened the Gunner Kennel and he froze. Wouldn’t move. I was able to sweet talk him and be enticing enough for him to take just one step out. Upon stepping out of his kennel I was covered in dog slobber. I let him lick my face uncontrollably for a minute and I threw him some fun bumpers in a field
They decided to let me take him home and we are grinding. We are not far out of before we start e-collar conditioning. I see a lot of good qualities and a will to work from this dog. I am exc
