Congratulations to Dr. Neihaus on getting published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association!

"Successful surgical correction of caudal duplication syndrome in a dog" is the amazing story of a dog born with 2 genitourinary and gastrointestinal systems that was surgically corrected into one. This is the first reported case of a surgery this extensive with this number of corrected duplications!

Yoda is a handsome kitty that came to us with a tibia broken into three pieces! Dr. Neihaus used a combination called plate-rod fixation to repair his broken leg. Recovery time is 6-8 weeks, then Yoda can go back to light speed!

Gus is a Lab puppy who had a synthetic cartilage graft (Synacart) placed by Dr. Neihaus for an OCD lesion. Today we received this amazing update and video on his progress! We’re so excited to see him running like a normal puppy again!

“Hey Dr Neihaus, it's been a little over 4 months since Gus had the SynaCART procedure and wanted to just give you an update and let you know he is doing fantastic. Prior to the implant, any running would result in him not being able to use the leg the following day. He is now able to run and play normally with zero noticeable soreness or pain. The difference is really pretty amazing. Here is a video of him completing a 1 mile run around the neighborhood and heading to the pool to play ball, he now runs as well as our golden retriever. Really appreciate your recommendation on the procedure, I'd say the outcome has been extremely successful.”

Gwen had an unknown injury several months ago ago that resulted in her breaking her foot and healing at a very unnatural angle. Today Dr. Neihaus and his team performed a corrective osteotomy (re-broke) her foot and performed a partial tarsal arthrodesis to straighten her foot to a normal angle. This should heal in about 6 weeks and she’ll be back to playing at full speed!

Gravel is a very lucky kitty! He was adopted two weeks ago with an unknown history. He began vomiting and breathing fast over the past few days and his vet diagnosed him with a diaphragmatic hernia - his intestines were in his chest cavity causing his lungs to collapse. Thankfully Dr. Neihaus was able to put everything (his entire small intestine, part of the large intestine, spleen, pancreas, half the liver and the gallbladder!) back into the abdomen and repair the hernia. Gravel recovered great from surgery and in a couple weeks should be back to 100%.
