Well after a long 2.5 years we are officially back! To start I would like to introduce Opal and Onyx. These are my 2 current bucks.

Opal has an absolutely astonishing temperament. He was recently used by a vet tech student for the last part of her exams. It included 3 saline injections, a blood draw and some other thing where he had to swallow something lol this boy didn’t put up a single fuss, he didn’t like being restrained (but who can blame him??) but not once did he try to bite, shy away or really anything.

Onyx also has a great temperament. He is certainly more reserved than his brother but is still confident, happy, and social.

The entire vet staff loved these boys. They were truly incredible. These boys are great and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

This cutie just wanted to let everyone know that we are still around ❤️ we’ve just had a hard and busy few weeks. We will not have any rats available for at least 6 months. We are not and do not plan to breed to sell for a while. Thank you for understanding. I will continue to post here. There will be plenty of updates posted and I will post once we are ready to begin selling again.

Sorry we’ve been so quiet! I’ve been crazy busy and haven’t had time to get proper photos. The beige and blue girls produces 17 beautiful babies. There are 2 beige babes. There is a mix of standard coat, Rex, and dumbo. We also got a litter of 4 possible silvermanes! Plus a singleton who is about a week younger than them (not shown)! I am VERY excited to see how the grow. They will NOT be for sell. I may have some black babes for sell (self, berk, and/or variegated). I will try to get updated photos as the babes are much much bigger now!

Kind of a bitter sweet day. I got rid of almost all my fearful flighty bite risk rats. I gave 11 girls away to become feeders. I got to welcome 2 beautiful adult Siamese girls and their litters though. The aggressive girls never allowed me to introduce new rats to their cage and it was always a struggle. I decided I was done and to offer then to a friend as feeders. So here is 2 of the girls before they left. I will get photos of the newest additions here soon. I am extremely happy with them and very excited to work with them.

I just paired 3 girls up last night so we should have babies within the next month.
Sire of all 3 litters is a big sweet black rex. Females are a Beige, a Black, and a Blue. I am expecting dumbos from the blue girl. Fingers crossed for some Beige.
I may have some pets available but am not making any guarantees. I will have feeder availability.

I thought long and hard on what I wanted to name my rattery, if I even wanted to but after a lot of back and forth I finally landed on Slate Rattery for a few reasons. The first being the best rat ever, Slate. He was the sweetest most cuddliest little dude. He would sit with you for hours just soaking up love, he would lick your fingers, he would rush to the front of the cage to get all the attention possible. He was the start of what had potential to become an incredible line. Sadly in August 2019 while out the power went out when I lost all my rats. Slate and his mini me daughter were among those. That's also why I chose Slate Rattery. When I finally gave in and got back into breeding again a few months later, it was a clean slate. A chance to start over. This time the line would also come with no strings attached and be all mine to develop. A clean slate... It has come with a lot of emotions, good and bad, sadness and excitement. My current line is far from perfect and has a long way to go but eventually, I'll get a bunch of pocket puppies again. I am starting with feeder lines and trying to make pet lines which means I have a long bumpy road ahead of me but I'll make it and in the end, I'll get back to where I was before and continue to improve because Slate was a great accomplishment and he made me very proud but there is always room for improvement.
Anyways... I will introduce some of my favorite rats over the next couple days.

The girls got a new hammock and their cage rearranged yesterday. Looking pretty decent. Want to add another hammock and some baskets here soon but it's a start. I decided to name my Rattery after the best rat ever, Slate. He sadly passed away August 2019 but he was a sweetheart who would lick your fingers and loved to be petted.

I'm currently working on pet lines but will not be selling any pets for a while. I will sell feeders. I will eventually sell pets but that is a few months away. Babies don't leave me until 8 weeks old.

I am working with a few varieties at the moment and will post a list closer to when I start selling pets.
