We are dedicated to our Veterans to help them find and train their Service Dog through our Partnership with SPCA East Texas and CampV.

As we celebrate Veterans Day today, we'd like to highlight our own Pets 4 Vets program, a special partnership between SPCA ETX, K9 Connections Dog Training, and Brookshire's, who generously granted funds to support adoption fees and vetting for the animals adopted by community veterans. Training Tip of the Day. What do you do when your Service Dog retires and still wants to work something else. Let them. Sonn is loving being my puppy raiser. He goes with me to the SPCA East Texas and loves to socialize all the puppies. He helps with my training clients pups as well.

Training Tip of the Day: Never over look at good Rescue dog as your Service Dog in Training. Their are so many dogs that we have trained that cam from rescues. Please consider them first.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Tammy Copas Jolly and Winston. They have been training for 2 1/2 years. We started training when Winston was 4 months old to become a Cardiac Alert Service Dog. He has completed all of his class obedience, task training and public access. There may have been some tough times, but these 2 really hung in there and made it happen. SOOOO PROUD.

Alot of Public Access Training going on with our Veterans and their Service Dogs in Training. Xolo (mexican hairless) was helping dad out with blocking and doing an amazing job. Fenris (blue bay shepherd) needed some fine tuning on excitable situations. Both did amazing. Petey is building his confidence in stairs and rocks his alerts for mom.

Many brave troops return home with scars – both seen and unseen – that make it difficult to transition back to civilian life. At the same time, millions of wonderful animals are waiting for a forever home. It’s a match waiting to be made and we’re ready to help!
When a Veteran is matched with the right pet, both lives change for the better. The Veteran saves the animal and welcomes him/her into a loving home. The pet provides the Veteran with unconditional love and support, easing stress, depression, loneliness, and anxiety. Training lesson of the day. When sending your dog make sure you have a solid send/out and a solid recall. Especially while the dog is off leash. Sorry for the voice lag

When working with reactive dogs, it's a great tool to have a solid dog to set the tone of the training session. Keiva (my black German Shepherd pup) is helping by staying calm, performing her commands and listening very well. Hunter has come along way with his behavior modification. He no longer snaps, growls, barks or reacts when dogs nor people are around. Congratulations Hunter

Fiona and Cutter the heeler pup had a blast at Lowes today. Fiona loves to train and she helped Cutter learn the ropes. Ashlyn Whyte and I were getting the dogs use to Sight, Sounds and Smells to help desensitize them during fear periods. They are both available at our local SPCA East Texas. We have our Adoption Days open to the public on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month. Come meet them or our many other babies just waiting for their forever home.

She has been found and is safe at home. With the help of our Search and Rescue team Keija and Karma, Samantha Hall and Ashlyn Whyte. Thank you everyone for the hard work, sweat and lots of miles.

SPCA of East Texas and K9 Connections have already beat our goal from 2023 of training and placing 17 dogs in their forever homes. As of today we are proud to say we have surpassed that and our goal for this year. 26 dogs have been trained and adopted at the half way mark, which included our Vets for Pets program and placing Service Dogs in Training with children with special needs. Please come join us this Saturday the 22nd to help push those numbers even higher. Please.sharr

A great foundation for your Service Dog in Training starts with everyday distractions and consistency while training. St. Peter is one of our Vets for Pets program dogs from SPCA of East Texas. Our local shelter that helps provide dogs to our Military Veterans. Without their help this would not be possible. Please come meet your future Hero Saturday June 22nd. This will be our " Kissing Booth" themed adoption day.
