Today is National Black Cat Day!

This time of year, many black cats may decorate many thresholds for Halloween and windows for spooky decor. However, these felines deserve the love and attention just as much as their tabby equivalents! We hope you celebrate by showing your black cat extra affection today.

We are immensely grateful for our veterinary technicians and the incredible work they do! They are essential to the daily operations of veterinary clinical practice, spay and neuter services, and maintaining animal welfare and health. Just as human healthcare relies on nurses, anesthesiologists, radiation technologists, and laboratory technologists, veterinary medicine combines all these roles into one superstar position: Veterinary Technicians. We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to our everyday heroes! 🐾💚

Maggie was driving downtown when she noticed two JEA employees stopping traffic in order to get two dogs out of harm’s way. “Momma and Baby’s rescue was a labor of love and testament that it does take a village!” Maggie told our team. “I told the JEA men I had a good-sized fenced yard, so they proceeded to pick Baby up and put her in the back seat. One of the guys, despite fear she may bite, was able to pick up Momma. Instead of biting she gave him huge, loving licks! It is truly heartwarming to see two animals who have been wandering the streets, malnourished and scared, be so loving and trusting!”

Maggie acted as a good samaritan and brought Momma and Baby into our clinic, wanting to get these two sweet, malnourished pups off the street and cared for. However, not expecting the potential medical expenses associated with two formerly stray dogs, Maggie was worried that the care for Momma and Baby would be out of her budget.

Thanks to our incredible donors, Momma’s heartworm treatment was affordable for Maggie. Maggie didn’t have to worry that the sweet dogs she just rescued would not receive care due to a cost barrier for their treatment. Now, they are receiving the care they need and are home running around their new backyard! 🐾💚

Ticiana rescued Micho 4 weeks prior to bringing him into our clinic after she found him on the street, crying out for help. “We posted everywhere to see if anybody lost their kitty, but nobody claimed him, so we decided to welcome him into our family! He has been such a blessing.”

Ticiana noticed that Micho started scratching his ear and decided to bring him to our clinic to have him evaluated, but she worried that the tests needed to diagnose the issue would be out of her budget. Thanks to our donor-supported Angel Fund, Micho was able to get a diagnosis and was treated at our clinic for earmites.

Now, Micho is feeling a lot better and is back at home with his new family who loves him! 🐾💚

Eunice brought Cookie to us when Cookie started showing signs of being in pain. “She means everything to me, I’ve had her since she was just a puppy. My grandchildren love Cookie [too].”

Our team found that Cookie was in need of a hernia repair surgery- a surgery that Eunice worried would be out of her budget. “I just want her to get the help she needs and get better,” Eunice told our team.

Thanks to our generous donors and supporters like you, Cookie was able to receive the surgery she needed at a cost within Eunice’s budget. Cookie is back at home recovering from her procedure, surrounded by the love of her family! 🐾💚

One of our team members brought her cat, Orion, in for concerns over his excessive grooming and itching.

Our veterinary team was able to examine and test Orion for potential causes of his itching, and treated him for allergies with an injection during his visit.

Now Orion is back home, running around the house with his sisters, and is so happy not to be itchy anymore! 🐾💚

Patches has been in Stephanie’s life since he was just a little kitten! “He is my family’s cat, but he is so much more than that to us. He has brought so much love and joy to mine and my children’s lives.”

Stephanie brought Patches to us at FCNMHP when he started exhibiting signs of a urinary blockage. “My daughter has recently gone through a lot of medical issues. Patches is her best friend and she would be absolutely devastated without him- we all just love him so much, he is the most amazing and loving pet. We would be completely heartbroken without our sweet baby at home with us!”

Patches received the emergency surgery he needed at a cost that was within Stephanie’s budget thanks to your support and the generosity of our incredible donors! Now he’s back at home with his best friend and family who love him, snuggling while he recovers! 🐾💚

Shelby noticed her best friend Lynx started exhibiting signs of a urinary blockage. Worried that the cost of his care would be out of her budget, Shelby brought Lynx to us at FCNMHP.

“He is the sweetest cat I’ve ever met- he loves everyone, even my kids. Being a single mom is hard but he is the sweetest little companion- I refuse to give him up.”

Thanks to our generous donors, Lynx’s care was partially covered by our Angel Fund. Now, Lynx is healthy and back at home with his family! 🐾💚

Cloak has been Sarah’s best friend since 2017. “My son and I always wanted a kitten, but weren’t able to afford one when he was little. A few months after my son’s father passed away, we went to visit a friend who lived on a farm. They found two of the fluffiest kittens I had ever seen and gave them to us, so Cloak and his brother, Dagger, came home with us!”

When Cloak started experiencing symptoms of a urinary blockage, Sarah brought him to us at FCNMHP right away. Thanks to the support of our incredible donors, Cloak’s treatment was within Sarah’s budget, and our team was able to help get him healthy again!

“We are so so grateful to get to take Cloak home again. Thank you!” 🐾💚
