It’s been a little over a week since Hurricane Milton made it’s mark on Charlotte County. It is a day that Charlotte County residents won't forget. The devastation Hurricane Milton caused for our residents is still beyond belief and brought storm surge that we have not seen. Charlotte County, we are in this together and will get through this. 💙

OK, so here’s the word! Gulf Coast Rob says a tornado is what struck here. Being from the Midwest, I have plenty of experience with tornadoes. This was definitely a tornado. But here is a bigger present - we came back to living angelfish with babies. And more young we didn’t see 🤩

If evacuating from our county is part of your emergency plan, go now ‼ Delaying evacuation plans may cause you to be stuck in traffic jams. All residents should know where they will evacuate if ordered. You do not have to wait for orders to evacuate.

Residents who live in areas prone to flooding, in a mobile or manufactured home or RV, or an evacuation zone should be ready to leave. It is recommended that residents evacuate tens of miles and not hundreds to avoid traffic jams.

If you choose not to evacuate, you could become trapped in a building due to rising flood water. If waters continue to rise, go to the highest level of the building, but do not climb into a closed attic.

🐠✨ The Coast Aquarium Society Fish Expo was amazing! 🦐🚚

Thanks to the warm welcome and incredible support from the Coast Aquarium Society, Gulf Coast Discus Rob decided to donate our last few discus to show our gratitude. We are so pleased with their kindness and support.

As we head back to a hurricane-affected area, we are preparing to evacuate north or south—possibly even out of the state. Hurricane Ian has left emotional scars and my living quarters remain unrepaired. I’m on edge, feeling completely traumatized and extremely nervous, but I am hopeful this isn’t the end of the road.

I’ve been running on very little sleep so that the show could go on, and despite my good fortune, things feel uncertain. It's been a tough journey, and right now, I am feeling weak in my knees. But it’s your support that keeps me going.

A massive thank you to everyone I met at the expo. Your compliments, purchases, conversations, and camaraderie mean more than words can express. It feels like just yesterday that I began creating special, clean discus without common issues. Every interaction filled me with warmth.

For the past few years after the first hurricane, things have been rough. But from vendors to attendees, I want to send a heartfelt thank you. We can’t go on without you.

Thank you to everybody that we worked with for helping to make this everything that it was 😇
