PETS LOOKING FOR THEIR OWNERS, THESE PETS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

Here are a few of the intakes that came to the shelter that are looking for their owners. To see all pets that are at the shelter, visit our website here: https://www.onslowcountync.gov/186/Animals

If you are missing your pet and it is at the shelter, please contact us immediately at 910-455-0182 or come to the shelter during our operational hours: Tuesday-Friday 12pm-5:30pm and Saturday 10am-4pm. All pets that are at the shelter are held for 72-hours and then are up for disposition after a medical and behavioral assessment.

If your pet is NOT at the shelter, please please view our monitor the website as new intakes are updated immediately, come to the shelter during our business hours AND complete a lost/found report for the area to increase your chances of finding your pet. If you have FOUND a pet, follow the steps below -
1 - Create a lost/found report on our website to increase reunification: https://www.onslowcountync.gov/1199/Report-LostFound-Pet
2 - Go to a microchip scanning station in Onslow County or a vet office to have the pet scanned for a chip. Attempt to contact the owner or complete a search of the area found to help reunite the pet quickly.
3 - Contact Animal Control when outside of business hours by calling dispatch at 910-455-9119 or by pressing 1 on our main line 910-455-0182. *Animal Control is ONLY dispatched through these avenues*
4 - Bring the pet to the shelter during our business hours to turn over to the county for the stray hold. Please note: We do not complete paperwork outside of the business hours due to needing to complete other duties. However, we now have a microchip scanning station placed by Paws 4 Purpose to help you reunite the pet outside of our business hours.

Since last Tuesday (11/5/24), we have taken in 43 dogs and have only had 15 adoptions. We wanted to ask for our community to step up and adopt a pet! All of these in this post can go home today ⬇️

REMINDER: All adult dog adoptions are $80 for our Veterans in honor of Veteran's Day.

Adoption Update for Piper!

Her adopters say: She is an all around great dog! She loves her doggy brother Finn, her sissy and her baby brother! Sweet Piper girl was so ready for a home, and it shows on a daily basis.

As you can see in the picture she smiles so big when she’s happy. She is the biggest baby ever most definitely a lap dog lol. She has the loudest snore, and even snorts like a pig at times.

Our sweet Piper seemed to have some babies before we adopted her, and just a couple of weeks after having her home our kitty had kittens, and we ended up keeping just 1. Piper actually treats the kitten as if it’s hers, she will curl up into a ball and and just go ham on licking the kitten, sounds insane BUT, it’s very much true. At night she has to have stuffed animals around her to go to sleep, and will lick them as if they are her puppies.

Mama Piper absolutely needed love, and my family couldn’t thank you guys enough for giving us this opportunity to add this sweet girl into our lives! She has been the BEST addition to our family!

UPDATE: Our animal reporting system is showcasing the animals in our care again. You are welcome to check our website as well as utilize the other options below.

Our internal system is having a glitch where pets are not posting our lost, found, and adoptable pets. The system IT department are working diligently to get this corrected. In the mean time, please use these avenues below to report or look for your lost, found or our adoptable pets.

Onslow County is closed in observance of Veteran's Day. We appreciate the dedication and sacrifice of our Veterans. Happy Veteran's Day!

For the following week, 11/12/24-11/16/24, we will celebrate our Veteran's through discounted adoptions. Adult dogs will be $80 and adult cats for $20. To receive the discount, a military ID must be presented at time of adoption. Thank you for your service!

Today we had the sweetest delivery ❤️ Tennyson and her family held her 1st birthday party and asked for donations towards helping the shelter in lieu of gifts. We are so thankful for their kindness and compassion - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TENNYSON!

GOOD NEWS ALERT 🎉 APOLLO HAS OFFICIALLY LEFT FOR RESCUE!

Apollo has finally gotten a fresh and final start, to a new life with a rescue organization. Thank you to the rescue for helping him!
