Our annual Holiday Ho-Ho-Hoedown is back! Join us December 14th from 1pm-4pm for food, fun, & (of course) chicken p**p bingo! We will be playing two rounds (@ 2pm + 3pm).

Fall planting prime time is any time September or October. You can push it later and get away with it, but every day you wait the slower things will grow because the days are shortening quickly right now. Which is to say: a month of September's sunlight is worth more than a month of October's sunlight, which is worth more than a month of Novembers sunlight, which is worth more than a month of December's sunlight.

Our bagged is available through our website (Overalls.Life), at Cultivate Jax, Eat Your Yard Jax, Standard Feed, Philips Nursery, and now at Plant Ranch Nursery out towards the beach.

Seasonally we help more and more folks to grow groceries for self and neighbor. Did you know that we started bagging our Magic Mix because.... "Say we could deliver bagged Magic Mix to a few dozen customers before the onslaught of the season? They'd be well served with the compost they needed, and that would free us up to serve more customers during peak season." It seemed to work.

A few months in, Cultivate reached out to ask if they could stock it at their shop. Soon enough, we heard that lots of former food garden support service customers were leaning into our bagged Magic Mix through Cultivate to DIY their own spring and fall ReFresh and RePlants. In other words, by providing bagged Magic Mix - our local, compost-based, super soil - in bags, customers were able to keep growing groceries.

Eat Your Yard Reached out. Then we approached Standard Feed & Philips. But, we kept hearing request from beachies: where can I buy Magic Mix near me? Thus we approached Plant Ranch.

Margins - as you'd imagine - are low on bagged Magic Mix, which we're still bagging manually; we end up making only about a buck a bag. But, it's ok because we measure our business success in two ways: 1)number of families we serve and 2)profitability.

Our mission is to grow and support others to grow groceries for self and neighbor, so the first measure keeps us honest. Are we "doing what we purport to do?" (Btw, Bags super charge our families served #). And the second one keeps us in business. Though it's never been primarily about the money, the "beans have to add up" as my aunt always says - otherwise our work, and many of your gardens, would be only a dream.

So far in 2024, we've directly served over 175 families with consults, garden installs, Magic Mix deliveries, and education. And that doesn't begin to count the hundreds who have purchased bags through our retail partners.
