Last weekend, we had a Cassava Workshop here at Eden Gardens Jax. It was AMAZING. Here's a couple of recipes and a little info on cassava! The pancakes can be used in sweet or savory dishes, and we love dipping cassava fries in the aioli sauce. Enjoy!

Join us this Saturday, February 17th, for a FREE , scrumptious and informative workshop where you will learn everything you need to successfully grow, harvest, and process Cassava in your backyard!

Starting at 10 am we will be sampling our homemade cassava flour pancakes and crispy air-fried cassava (first come, first served). At 11 am, our team will demonstrate planting Cassava from cuttings, followed by harvesting the remaining roots in our hugel rows. We'll conclude by showing you how to process and store cassava roots. The workshop is free and we will have cuttings available for purchase for $5 each.

No sign up required. Come see us!

Join us next (not this) Saturday, January 20th, from 9:00-12:00 for our weekly open house where we'll be offering pick-your-own 2-3lb tilapias served live on ice, directly from our aquaponics greenhouses for a donation of $5/lb which will go directly towards supporting our mission on the farm.

All our fish were born and raised right here by our staff and are fed with organic fish pellets and moringa leaves. They turn that into plant food that feeds our lettuce and other greens. Now that we have too many of them, they'll get a chance to feed *you*.

It didn’t stop the tour that happened today either!

Thankfully, the rain wasn’t too bad at all.

Eden Gardens was one of five stops featuring slow food farms here in Jacksonville.

What a great way to connect with this incredible community of farmers, gardeners, & forever learners.

It’s

We’ve seen incredible generosity throughout the last ten years of GloDev’s existence. That generosity helped us launch this farm, Eden Gardens in 2016.

The farm is growing & so is our team! With four families living & working on site, a permanent staff housing area has become one of our greatest needs.

We’ve set a goal of $8400. That will help us complete the remaining plumbing, electrical, & sewage hookups at each of the staff sites.

Will you consider giving?

“Why do you love coming to the farm?”

“The animals.”

“All the yummy stuff we get to eat.”

“Connection to where our food comes from & a community.”

“To get to learn about how to grow food sustainably.”

These are some of the top reasons we’ve heard to visit the farm!

Connecting with you, our community is a huge part of why we’re doing the work we’re doing.

You can enjoy the farm through tours, field trips, volunteering on Thursdays, or our Open House Market Days every 1st & 3rd Saturday, 9-12.

See you at the farm 😉

Some morning sunrise pictures from the lake we’re digging in the back.

The farm, this land we are stewarding is a miracle & truly a beautiful place. We’ve come a long way since August 31st, 2016 when this raw land was purchased. We have a team living on site, animals, & lots of garden spaces. We sowed in faith in 2016 because of the vision we saw of this property. We continue sowing, building, plowing because of the vision to feed 1000 people a day from this land.

What a great crew to work with today at the farm on Volunteer Thursday!

They worked in the Commercial Aquaponics Greenhouse helping us to clean & reset our aquaponic grow beds, wash the inside & outside of the greenhouse walls, clean the floating rafts, weed…needless to say, they did A LOT!

A huge reward for farming the way we do is getting to see people’s reaction when they see & experience something for the first time. One of those “firsts” we love showing people is the Banana Circle.

This banana circle is one of the first things planted at Eden Gardens. It’s has quite a few varieties of bananas, all donated by our amazing farm community including &

And..yes..it produces actual bananas!

People’s reaction to the massive leaves & seeing bananas growing are priceless.

Another bonus of the banana circle is this time of year you can stand in the middle of the banana circle & your body will immediately start to cool down. That’s because you’re surrounded by unseen water.

We purposely planted these bananas in a low area that holds a lot of water near the annual garden. Bananas love water. When you cut into the banana plant, it oozes liquid.

Eden Gardens officially has our first habitat so we can get

This is a successful food source we’ve been able to use in the systems in Honduras & Philippines.

Now we’re using it here…finally! The black soldier fly larvae will be free food for both the tilapia & chickens! Which is much needed with these hungry farm mouths 🐟🐓😎

Creating Change

We sit on 120 acres in NW Jacksonville, Fl. We are working on building a self-sustaining eco-farm that will help train and feed thousands. We will provide fresh organic food to those who need it most at a low cost through our community farmer’s market or for free through our work-4-food program.

The vision of Eden Garden’s can be divided into three main focuses:

Community Focus

Our neighbors are the primary beneficiaries of the work we do. Through our community farmer’s market, they have the ability to purchase healthy food. Our work-4-food program will not only teach people about how to tend their own gardens, but give them the ability to receive free food through working on the farm.
