Update on Mr. Doug:

We learned about 2 months ago where Mr. Doug came from. He has been a yard dog about a block from the office for several years, that frequently left the yard. After finally making contact with the owner, he has been picked up a few times and returned to the office again. The last two times he found his was back to the office less than a day after being picked up and this last time the owner was notified and stated that he would pick him up after he got off work, which was approximately 6 weeks ago.
Mr. Dougie has been abandoned. He loves people and deserves a loving home. He has spent the majority of his last 8 months in a kennel as we are not equipped to house a dog here long/term as we are a very busy facility who only had kennel staff a few times a day. He gets so excited when it’s time to go for a walk and he can get attention.
He is not a good fit around cats, as he is very fixated on them, and will need someone to work with him if they want to have him around other dogs.
He has become much less reactive to other dogs while he has been here, but we have not let him run free with anyone.

Dougie-boy would love to meet you! Even if you just want to come by and play with him for a bit!

We have had multiple tickets with animal control since the day he first showed up, but have had no success yet, and all rescues have been full.

If you know someone who might be interested in this boy, please let us know!

Update:

ADOPTED!!!!

We have a very special kitten up for adoption consideration. She will be a special needs case.

Ms. One-eyed Willimina was brought in for euthanasia as a found stray a week ago because of an eye injury.

She has a previous break in her tail that appears to have healed, just a little crooked. And her right eye was partially ruptured and scarred down, so it is very small and job-functional.
She was very dehydrated and covered in ticks when she came in, but that is completely resolved now.
Now for the special needs part: She has cerebellar hypoplasia. Most likely, her mother became sick while she was pregnant and it caused the fetus’s cerebellum(balance center of brain) to have limited development. Because of this, she is very wobbly and unbalanced. Most kittens learn to adapt quite well, but each one is different. She maneuvers quite well until she is excited, then she kinda flops like a fish. (Food time is the most common cause, but who wouldn’t get excited.)
Some cats and dogs may attack a cat that flip-flops, so care would need to be taken until you know how your pet reacts.
She loves people, and belly rubs.
If you would like to meet her, let us know or stop by.

Notice of Closure!
As our system has been having issues after each power outage, we will be closing Thursday October 10th in preparation for the impending hurricane. We hope to have everything up and running and be open as normal on Friday, the 11th.

Update: We will also be closing at 4PM on Wednesday to give our employees time to get home and get prepared, as several live in problematic areas.

We hope everyone stays safe.

09/27/2024

We are open today, however, we have no system or phones at this time. We are trying to get up and running, but it is going slowly. We can run credit cards directly through the processor, but we have no way to print receipts until we can get the rest of the system up and running.

We appreciate everyone bearing with us while we try to get everything working.

Up for adoption!

Meet Mama Coco!

SHE WANTS YOU!.....to adopt her!

This is the mama of the little Black Tuxedo and Grey boys that we adopted out a week ago. She is healed up from her spay and ready to fly the coop and find a home of her own!
She is feline leukemia and FIV negative and her vaccines are up to date.
She's a little feisty around other cats since she was left with a litter of new-borns, and started off a bit protective of them. She loves people, though, and is ready to get out of her kennel and explore a new home!
Let us know if you'd like to visit this girl today!

Adopted!

Up for Adoption!
We have two more kittens looking for their furrever homes!

Meet Talulah and Oswald!
Talulah is an 8 week old girl, we expect her to turn into a flame-point colored baby. She is a cuddlebug.
Oswald is a bodacious little 10 week old tabby boy with a heart of gold.
Both of these little motor-boats have had multiple preventative dewormings, tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV and had their first booster vaccines. They are both ready for a home with lots of cuddles and long naps on soft surfaces!

Let us know if you would like to meet them today!

Mr. Doug is still with us looking for a loving family!

Up for Adoption!
For those of you that remember our post of a found-dog from 2 weeks ago, he has not been claimed. His information was forwarded to ACPS, but no one has come to claim him, so they are assuming he was dumped.
He is estimated to be about 4-5 years old, maybe younger. He has already been neutered. He has had his vaccines updated.
He was heartworm positive on testing and has begun on Heartgard as well as his initial round of Doxycycline and Prednisone as per the "Slow-Kill Method". If his adopter chooses to have him go through the Immiticide Injections ("Fast-Kill Method"), we can provide those at no cost.
He will need to be kept very quiet and prevented from running and jumping during the Immiticide injections for the duration of treatment, about 6 months.

If you would like to come by and meet him, please stop by the office today!
