Angel Emmanuel Ramirez

***ADOPTED AGAIN 7/20/24***

RETURNED TWICE through no fault of his own. Smokey was originally adopted back in June 2023, he was surrendered in May 2024 due to owner being pregnant and couldn't handle the smell of the litterbox. He was then adopted by a new family less than a week ago of June 2024 and was returned due to " Owner stated she wants to return Smokey because he just lays around and sleeps all day and doesn't play with her or any of the toys she bought for him. She also noted he started sneezing yesterday and wasn't eating yesterday either. She was not receptive to anything staff member was saying and said over and over that she just wants to get rid of the cat. Poor Smokey deserves better. Please help him today.

CHARACTER TYPE:

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:

BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:

Level 3

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Adult only home

Other

Recommendations comments:

Juno came in with a hoarding case. It is likely that Jay is an under socialized adult cat for this reason. Juno should go to an adult only home for her own comfort and to maximize her chances of potentially warming up. Please keep in mind that Juno is what ACC calls a potential "spirit cat" and that she may never warm up completely. She is a good adoption candidate for anyone who wants a more independent companion. Cats from hoarding cases typically do well with other cats in the home - they are socialized with cats, humans not so much.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:

Juno was hunched on top of her kuranda bed as the assessor approached, body and face tense, pupils dilated and tail wrapped tightly around her body. Juno made eye contact with the assessor when spoken to, pupils dilated and eyes wide. Juno widened her eyes further and lowered her body as the kennel door opened. Juno tolerated petting along her head and body with the assessor's hand while remaining frozen. Pick up was not attempted at this time.

Juno tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
