We are excited to be offering Gut Biome testing with our new partner lab- AnimalBiome Veterinary Lab! AnimalBiome

An animal's gut biome is made up of hundreds of different types of organisms that are instrumental in ensuring good health. A good diet and healthy lifestyle play a key role in keeping it healthy and balanced.

Factors such as poor diet, illness, medications and exposure to toxins can throw off the balance. This state of dysbiosis, causes symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, itchy skin and bad breath can occur.

By analyzing a small f***l sample, the AnimalBiome lab, tests the balance of the good bacteria and for the presence of harmful bacteria. Fire Season is Here! Hot and smokey here in the Rogue Valley.

Meet Rocksy, Oliver and Jacksy, owned by the kind folks at Churro Rush here in Jacksonville. We love it when they come in for a visit because we LOVE kittens and we LOVE the delicious Pineapple sorbet they bring us! Super yummy and refreshing on these hot days!

The longest cat ever! This is Quincy, a 14 month Maine C**n who came to see us today for a wet cough. This sweet boy was sent home with an herbal tincture to reduce bronchial inflammation, dry up the respiratory secretions and boost immunity/vitality.

The importance of MICROCHIPPING! This story has a happy ending :)

As we all know, the Fourth of July is scary for holidays and many run in fear. This scruffy girl sought shelter in Gemma's home when she opened her door last night. Being the kind person she was, Gemma who is a client at Animalkind Holistic Veterinary Clinic, brought her in to get scanned for a microchip. Great news! She was chipped, so we called 24HrPetWatch and her registration was up to date! Alot of times animals will have a chip, but aren't registered or the info isn't current.
Within 30 minutes of walking into the clinic, Morello was happily reunited with her owner because she was microchipped and registered! Thank you Gemma for helping this sweet girl!

This is Riva- she was a very brave girl and let Dr.J remove a foxtail out of her ear. Good girl Riva!
To prevent her from getting foxtails again, her mom bought her a Foxtail mask - goes over the head and attaches to the collar. These masks come in a variety of styles and sizes and are available at local pet stores. This year is proving to be a very bad year for foxtails, so here's an option to keep your pet safe.

Foxtails: Your pets worst enemy!!!!!

Watch out for these extremely pesky grass seeds, which can get stuck in paws, ears, nose and eyes. Since they are barbed, they work there way in and get stuck. In most cases, they do not come out on there own and often require veterinary intervention.

Signs your pet may have a foxtail:
- Sudden onset of excessive sneezing
- Shaking and pawing at the ear
- Red swellings between the toes often accompanied by excessive licking

Best way to avoid foxtails are to mow early, avoid trails and fields with foxtails and check paws after walking. If you think your pet may have a foxtail, give us a call and we can advise you on next steps! We are here Tu-Friday from 9-5 and can be reached at 541-702-2288.
