Update: she has had her surgery and is doing well ā¤ļø

This little girl was found in a ditch with a broken leg last Saturday in Hot Springs. The finder took her to Airport Road Animal Hospital in Hot Springs where they took X-rays to determine the amount of damage. She was treated with antibiotics and pain meds and referred to Jacksonville Animal Hospital for orthopedic surgery. She does not have a microchip and there are no ā€œlostā€ posts that we can find.

So here she is with no one to care for her but us. Her name is Lucky, and sheā€™s approximately 6 months old. Based on her age, the vet thinks we can avoid amputation and save the leg. We donā€™t have an estimate for the cost yet but probably looking around $1000. Please help if you can. We will keep you updated on her progress ā¤ļø

Happy Sunday from Griswald! He goes back to the vet next week for his shots and anything else he might need. He seems to have settled into his foster home very nicely. Thank you again for donating to his care. He wouldnā€™t have made it without you ā¤ļø

For those who havenā€™t been following Griswaldā€™s story, he is a parvo survivor. At first the vet didnā€™t think he would make it overnight because he was so malnourished. But we gave him a chance, and when he survived that first night we knew he was a little soldier. We raised enough money for the monoclonal antibody treatment and he responded very well.

Thank you everyone who donated, shared, and prayed and sent positive thoughts. We will keep you updated ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Meet Koal. Koal is a Great Dane we were asked to help with last week. He was found in pitiful condition. Per the vet report, he has multiple pressure sores and hygromas (fluid-filled sacs on his joints from pressure or injury) heavy heartworm positive, very malnourished, and a right testicle which was extremely hard and swollen to the size of a baseball. Neuter surgery yesterday revealed shot and a bullet in the testicle. He also has a bullet in his leg and bullet fragments throughout his body which are stable and not causing problems at the moment.

He is under the care of Little Woods Animal Clinic in Cabot. We have already paid $500 on his account and would like to recoup that money for the next urgent case that can't wait. We also don't know if Koal will be a candidate for the heartworm treatment. We are waiting for some more test results to see what the best option is for him.

Koal is in a foster home where he is being treated like a king and will never have to sleep on concrete again.

Thank you so much ā¤ļø

Griswald update. He continues to thrive in his foster home. Heā€™s a calm little boy and doesnā€™t want to play much just yet. He loves long naps and cuddles, and he took foster momā€™s slippers into his little bed last night and was just so proud of himself!

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and sent positive thoughts and prayers his way šŸ™

This is the link to the new rescue group that has taken over from Dirt Road Mutts. The volunteers who helped this group now have all the dogs in their care. The dogs were transferred to them, but unfortunately the funds remaining in the Dirt Roads account was not. This is under investigation and beyond anyone elseā€™s control at the moment. Many of these dogs still need extensive vet care including spay/neuter, and the treatment of chronic skin conditions and injuries. Please help us help them. You can donate through us, or you can donate to the vet clinic directly. I have placed some QR codes in the comments if you would like to donate through us online. We also take checks. Just make them out to JFOTA, PO Box 386, Jacksonville, AR 72078 and put Jakā€™s in the comments. You can also donate directly to Little Woods Animal Hospital in Cabot and put it on the Jakā€™s account. Jakā€™s does not currently have a 501 (c) (3) status as this all happened so quickly and that takes time. Any donations sent to them through us will be tax deductible. Thank you in advance. https://www.facebook.com/share/VYQm6UQqswWYGSEP/?mibextid=LQQJ4d
