This year's is December 3! Consider donating to the Animal Health Fund. With your help, we can fund projects that help us understand and protect wildlife species around the world. From turtles to rhinos to whales, your contributions make a difference 🐢🦏🐋

The Wild Animal Health Fund is here to save zoo animals & wildlife from extinction. How? Through funding health studies so veterinarians can know more about our species and how to save them!

One week ago these amazing people found out they achieved their dream: Board Certified Specialist in Zoological Medicine 🏆

It’s been a long road for each of these individuals (college…vet school…5-6+ years of post-grad training or full-time work experience…numerous scientific research projects/publications…too numerous to count hours of studying…life sacrifices…), so give them a huge smile, hi-five, or hug when you see them!

We’re so glad you are here!

PS - cake is also an acceptable gift! 🧁

There truly aren't words for how wonderful the tech team at The Living Desert really is. Jourdan is the soul of the team - she brings the s***k and laughs. Darren is our newest addition - he brings balance and has seamlessly integrated into the group. Morgan, our lead veterinary technician, is the heart of the team. Her dedication and commitment to the care of our animals and growth as a team cannot be understated. We are lucky every day to have these three individuals. A week of celebrations is not nearly enough to express our gratitude. Thank you for all that you do!

The Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team would like to recognize our vet techs who tirelessly support the health and welfare of our animals at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, The Seas with Nemo & Friends at EPCOT, Disney’s Tri Circle D Ranch, Disney’s Castaway Cay, and Disney’s Aulani Resort. In celebration of week, we want to honor their unwavering compassion for and expertise with all the animals in our care! This team is always up to the task leading the way with innovative health programs while working in a multi- doctor, multi- institutional practice to care for both terrestrial and aquatic species alike. Whatever opportunity they face…CT on a horse, flamingo, or sea turtle- check! Surgery and wellness procedures across species- check! Photobiomodulation on a hippo- challenge accepted! Thank you for your skills, fortitude, and passion for engaging our Guests to care for wildlife and wild places!

The vet techs at the Brevard Zoo keep our veterinary program running! They are the most skilled, compassionate, and resilient techs out there. Kristi, Falicia, and Jess always give 110% to everything they do at the zoo, and bring such awesome skill sets, perspectives, and ideas to our team. While Leatitia has moved on to another opportunity, she was an indispensable part of the veterinary team this past year, and she is sorely missed. Trevor and I are so grateful that we get to work with every one of you! All sea turtle activities performed under Marine turtle permit 206.

The El Paso Zoo would like to thank its licensed veterinary technician Erin and vet assistants Sarah, Jon, Karina, and hospital secretary Gisselle for all they do to help take care of the animals at the zoo. They are also the backbone of our raptor rehabilitation program. We wouldn't be able to be as successful as a team without them! Thank you! Drs. Vikki and Kaitlyn

At The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, our veterinary technician is integral to ensuring the well-being of our elephant residents. Their role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities and assist in various medical treatments. We wish to recognize the work of The Sanctuary’s Lead Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Services Manager, Eileen K. Eileen has been a veterinary technician for 22 years. Her expertise and dedication aid in providing the highest standard of care for the elephants at The Sanctuary. With a passion for conservation, she states, “I feel that a portion of everyone's job at The Sanctuary is as a conservationist, because we believe in the mission of aiding the elephants in our care as well as their wild counterparts.”
This National Vet Tech Week, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the veterinary technicians out there, for their unwavering commitment and compassion.
