K9stateofmindjax I don’t train dogs, I teach them. Teach them how to exhaust energy and anxiety in a healthy way.

You should be vetting anyone you’re letting handle your dog. There’s a lot of people talking a lot of talk but when you look into it, they don’t have much work to show.

And my life is more fulfilling and enjoyable than it ever has been. 🤔

K9 State Of Mind

Our mission is to build a stronger connection between humans, dogs, and their communities by developing resources to help owner’s create safe, healthy, well-behaved dogs.

It takes a special person to take on the responsibility of adopting a dog with a potential history of abuse and neglect. Not only are you rescuing and bringing home a new dog, but now you must take on the responsibility of rehabilitating a dog that they may not know much about. In many cases these community heroes find themselves needing help sorting through some of the behavior issues that transpire from a powerful association from the past. If there’s anything that can undo your hard work and hold back the healing progress for these dogs, is how people have a tough time acknowledging that the REAL long-term damage and ongoing pain, is enhanced by our inability to move forward. When we project emotion and pity onto these dogs, we can cause more pain and suffering than the actual original abuse they endured. When you begin to treat the dog like a normal dog. We begin to earn their trust by NOT showering them with emotion, but instead providing basic needs such as Leadership, structure, boundaries... We are patient and compassionate while not giving affection to reward their state of mind until we can break through and find the dog that wants so badly someone to slow them down and reprogram my anxious mind long enough for them to learn what we want or don’t want from them. We help them find moments of peace and relaxation. We make them feel valued and show them they have purpose. We benevolently give love, structure, stability, and boundaries that keep them safe. We get respect and better choices that keep others safe. We rescue the dog from the over-reactive, anxious, confused, scared shell he was stuck behind. We make them comfortable and show them companionship.

Everything comes back to their state of mind. There’s the productive, healthy mindset. Then there’s the state of mind where your dog is anxious and overly-reactive. A freaked out dog highest standard, is going to be a mess. Using obedience that is reinforced and non-negotiable helps create this shift in the relationship dynamic. A foundation of human leadership will create the opportunity for a healthy reset. When you turn the relationship dynamic around, you create several things: a dog that looks to his owners for information rather than just reacting; a dog who feels someone else is in charge of the big, stressful stuff; a dog who understands what is and isn’t appropriate behavior - even if they’re concerned or nervous; and a dog that feels far more confident because he or she finally got a leader. Every interaction with your dog plays a huge role in how he will view you. As a leader, or as a follower.
