Anya’s helping me ride Balerion till I can get into the swing of my new schedule and the final training horses leave 😊

He is such a well behaved baby. Hes only had me ride him so the fact that he’s being so he bestest boy with someone new is fantastic! Raised him right, slow and correct.

Thank you Anya!!

GOOD BOY TITAN!!
His first trail ride with us off property and he was great! This is clearly what this horse wants to be doing, not arena work. He was so relaxed, easy going, went over bridges, through deep mud, down through the creek, and not once took a bad step. Solid trail horse deluxe this big guy is!

We can tell the previous owner allowed him to turn around in the trailer so we will be working on backing off a trailer correctly. Loads like a champ though!

Man this guy is awesome! He’d be my first pick every time for a trail horse! Way to go Titan!

I said my final farewells to my princess Nina today. I cried in her mane and gave her the longest hug and so many scratches. I held it together as I loaded her on the trailer with me for the last time. I gave her her favorite treat of apples cut up and as she licked my hands cleaned I told her I loved her dearly and to always be good and kind no matter what.

Thank you Elaine Flinn for giving me the opportunity to love, train, and care for Nina. We wish the absolute best for you both. 💕

Eddie had a successful trim finally! He was still struggling with those hind legs, kicking out occasionally. We laid him down a couple weeks prior to this and worked with him that way. Then picking up his hind with ropes and he was improving so much! Today we gave him light sedative to make this a positive experience and he was fantastic!! It’s taken several months to get to this point and we keep heading in the right direction. He is standing up by himself for his fronts now too! With continued training by the end of this year Edmond should not need any sedation, ropes, or further guidance with his hooves.
He has really come so far in every aspect of his training. We are elated for Jenny!
Ed has come a full 360 and we couldn’t be more proud of him!

Finally got rid of all the manure! Some don’t mind staring at a massive pile year round but we prefer not to have any prior to winter. And yes we are already thinking about winter over here.

Thank you Jeff and Mac McDaniel for always helping us with this big task yearly! We appreciate you both!!

Thoughts from your friendly Draft horse trainer 💕

I have been training horses for 24 years now here in Ohio and also in Wisconsin when I lived in Madison for 8 years. 11 of those years I ran my very own business. As you know I dove deep chasing my dreams. I’ve always had a natural gift and talent with horses, even when I was a little girl I always felt the safest around them (honestly all animals I’ve loved) but with horses it just came natural.
I’ve given my complete heart and soul to clients horses over the course of these years. I’ve rehabbed many equine into wonderful horse citizens and guided many owners to their dreams and goals. Along the way I cried with clients, laughed, and shared wonderful memories.
However with that I endured clients or boarders bad mouth me, bring me down to hurtful painful blows, and made me feel like I’m an awful human being. I continued to keep my skin tough and smile even forgive those who made me feel this way.
I’ve always been honest with everyone in my facility. Many have come and gone. Many think I won’t hear their hurtful comments and remarks about my care, my training, myself. But it all always comes back to me.
I tried my best to help a 4-H horse program for years bringing in new volunteers, many many kids, new advisors, and my knowledge of horses only to be run out of the program and when I sought for help and guidance was met with passive aggressive behavior and issues swept under the rug not to be discussed again.
I almost lost my relationship with my husband, lost a friendship that I gave my heart to, and almost lost my life due to so much sacrifice and stress I gave to others.
I sacrificed my family ALOT, missing soccer games and important family events, missed Christmas Eve one year, hell I should have gone to school to become an equine vet 😂 because the life of a trainer sure feels similar.
I’ve witnessed other fellow professional trainers that I’ve looked up to over the years throw in the towel because of similar issues. I was always sad and didn’t understand why but as my business years went on I realized how incredibly tough this job is. Even my own extended family gave me hard times and didn’t understand situations.
I didn’t grow up on a farm, didn’t grow up with parents that loved horses, and had limited funds and mentors. So I’ve always had to work EXTRA hard for everything.

After earlier this year my entire body yelling at me to either slow down or quit I finally listened. If you’ve never been close to death you’d know you view life completely different. I laid in that hospital bed and could feel my organs shutting down, pretty eye opening when your only 43 and still have so much to live for in life.

It’s time to give it a rest and you couldn’t understand how difficult this is for me. But my skins not as tough as it used to be. I recently had a client make me feel really awful and so it was just finally the last nail in the coffin. Folks don’t realize the EXTRA hours and time they are never paying for. This job doesn’t pay nearly as much as it should. It’s alot of thankless comments, ungrateful moments and folks taking advantage of a kind heart. And while I’ve learned to shrug these moments off after so many years my mind simply no longer can handle it. Sad right? Breaks my heart into a million pieces. My closets friends know how difficult this year has been in making this decision but they’ve also seen what I’ve endured over time. I’m pretty burnt out and the expectations of always being great, winning, and constantly improving reputation and facility is heavy. So heavy I’m beginning to not enjoy my passion. I gave my dream a go for awhile, hung in there when the times were tough even.

So I’m taking a break, how long? I wish I knew 🤷‍♀️ one things for sure I’m excited to be able to give my personal horses quality time they deserve. There’s never been enough hours in the day to clean the stalls, train clients horses, run a horse club, give lessons, coach kids at shows, and then keep up a 13 acre farm in tip top shape with improvements. This farm was a dump including the house when we bought it years ago. So we started from scratch here and while we have made a TON of improvements we still have more to go. At the end of the day I have to always try to squeeze in my horses and then it’s bedtime at that point 😂 and not much of any kind of life outside of that. Yes I chose to live this life and I loved it for many many years. Somewhere along the way I lost myself though. I never put me first, I don’t know how but after getting friendly with the grim reaper I finally realized I am very important 😉

I will be finishing out the few training horses here, taking a long overdue vacation and starting a new journey to the yellow brick road.

I will still be giving lessons but it will be nice not to worry so much about other peoples horses and their expectations.

Thank you to all my clients (there are many) over the years good or bad. Gosh what a ride it’s been! You’ll still see us in the showpen! You’ll still see me laughing and smiling and enjoying my horses because after all it’s in my blood.

Happy Trails until we meet again 🤗

We are (if you will) probably considered a “mom and pop” family run business. Most know we are a small training facility trying to make ends meet monthly and yearly. Each year we try to sponsor one of our favorite shows. This year we decided to donate to one of our family favorite places that is local! Young’s Jersey Dairy has been a family tradition of food, delicious ice cream, and mini golf/batting cages! And of course loving on Jersey cows and goats!
If you’ve never been don’t miss out, it’s a great place to visit!

Welcome Titan! A 7 year old Percheron/Paint cross gelding owned by Ed’s owner Jenny 😊
Titan was a breeding stallion for a few years and was gelded earlier this year. He’s already had roughly 100 days of riding put on him from previous owner. He’s here to be finished out. What cool markings!

Thank you Jenny for trusting us again for training and care 😊

What an exceptional mare Nina is. She has been in my program for almost over 3 years. We’ve cared and raised her into a beautiful athlete. We’ve loved her whole heartedly as if she were our very own. She has turned into nothing short of gorgeous, smart, and extremely talented. We’ve traveled with her near and far. We’ve trusted her with many youth and we committed everyday to her. She’s been a pivotal part of our family for these few years.

We want to give an extra special thank you to Elaine Flinn for trusting us to take this mare to the top! Elaine has trusted the process, understood how long it took to mold an athlete. And allowed us to make such a beautiful partnership over the years with Nina.

Our hats tipped off to such a great client who has become a wonderful friend. We wish nothing but the absolute best for Elaine and Nina! What amazing memories we made with such a beautiful unicorn.

Great day today for Dressage showing 😊

Both Nina and Zeppelin did well. We have a lot of homework to do but hey life would be boring if we didn’t have things to improve upon 😊
Proud of both young horses today.

Welcome home big guy can’t wait to show you buddy

We sure are going to miss Sam so much. He was a little unsure of the clippers in the beginning when he first came and now he could care less. As I stated in my video, carrots always help 😉
He’s been my favorite horse to ride these past couple months. Going to miss our time together but his mom sure is excited to get him home.
Thank you Roseanne for allowing me to love, care and train your amazing Clydesdale! He’s one very special guy 💕
