Aurora has been in foster care with her new family for the last 2 weeks. This morning, they officially adopted her! She has a nice, big fenced in yard with another dog and teenagers to play with!

TUX has passed all of his preliminary video screenings as well as initial medical clearances. This boy has EARNED an invitation to the Search Dog Foundation's NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER!!

These two cuties found their forever homes today! Hurricane was born at the shelter with his 6 siblings and Zephyrochi was found abandoned in the Walmart parking lot when someone rescued him! Both should have wonderful, long lives with loving families ♥️ live your best lives, you will be missed 😽 *adopted*

UPDATE:

Tux has been accepted into the Search & Rescue program at National Disaster Search Dog Foundation in California! We knew he would do great, we just weren’t expecting such good news so soon - his recruiters have nothing but good things to say about him. We originally took Tux in from Furry Friends Rockin Rescue in Bismarck/Mandan when someone dumped him and he was found as a stray. To quote our previous dog manager and good friend, Kris G Fuchs-Meidinger, Tux has gone from “abandoned, to rescued, to rescuer.” 💕

Crystal has left the building! After waiting a LONG 234 days for the perfect home, Crystal finally went home with her new dad today. She was extremely scared and shy for a long time so that made it very difficult for her to find a home. We are very happy for our beautiful Crystal and will miss her very much but we are SOOOO happy for her 😽 live your best life sweet girl ♥️

This handsome boy here is Duke. He's a 3 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. He is smaller than most other GSPs. He has lots of energy and loves kids! He does great on car rides, but could use some work on manners - when he gets really excited, he can be a bit jumpy and he is pretty strong! He would do best on a farm or with a family that can give him lots and lots of exercise!

At only about 3-4 years old, Star was diagnosed with the beginning stages of kidney failure in January 2024. Despite this, a very kind young couple gave her a chance and adopted her. Unfortunately, it was not known at this time that Star was suffering from an internal infection from her spay back in December, along with the presence of a stricture in her esophagus. Come May/June, Star’s adopters reached out to us again with concerns about her health and no longer being able to afford her treatment. It was decided to have the shelter cover the costs of Star’s medical treatment, where she was kept overnight at Red River Animal Hospital in Fargo. Despite finding out that her kidney failure had advanced to some degree, we had fairly high hopes that she could still live a happy, healthy 1-1 1/2 more years.

Unfortunately, this weekend proved us all wrong. Star’s kidney levels doubled in the past month, she was in the beginning stages of liver failure, and she had lost 10lbs. since she was last at the vet a month prior. At this point, we had to take Star’s quality of life into consideration. The Kennel Supervisors, along with Star’s family, decided that the best thing that we could do for Star was to help ease her pain and suffering by humane euthanasia. Star passed away peacefully surrounded by her family’s loving embrace last night - she is no longer suffering or in pain.

Star’s family informed us that on their way home after Star’s passing, a rainbow could be seen in front of them during their entire drive home. 🌈 They also sent us photos of her before her illnesses took over that we’d like to share, in honor of sweet Star. 🌟

RIP Star, you were loved so much by so many of us at the shelter and your family - you will forever be missed 💞

Lucky, Patty’s last remaining puppy, was adopted! He was adopted by a family member of the people that adopted his sister, Rain, so they will get to have lots of play dates together! 💕
