Percy came to us a few months ago as a stray from a reservation. He came in with mange, so was being treated for quite some time before he was available for adoption. Last month, he was no longer considered contagious and we were able to send him into foster-to-adopt, until he was completely in the clear and we could finish his medical. He’s been cleared and medical complete - today, his adoption was finalized!

“Grunter is half pitbull and chocolate lab, been fixed and up to date on shots, gd with cats but not dogs, not so gd with kids. Hates storms,fireworks, people yelling. Once he gets to know u he is a big baby, he loves his toys,to cuddle and still thinks he is a lap dog. And he is very smart u ask him to get his toy and he will go get it. He is 2 1/2 yrs old.”

Six puppies from an accidental litter are looking for homes. “There are 4 males and 2 females. Mama is a White Lab and papa is a Pit/Husky. They were born on June 5th, so are about 3 months old. They received some shots on August 14th.”

UPDATE: The original foster family is still trying to make it work with some training. We will update in a couple weeks if we are still looking for another foster for Tyson or not! 🐶

A couple months ago, we were looking for a foster home for baby Tyson (responds to the name “Dutch”). We are looking for another either foster or foster-to-adopt home. Unfortunately, he plays too roughly for a toddler. He would do well with slightly older children, that would be able to tell him “no.” While he is small, at only 18lbs. and only 12-13 weeks old, he is still a puppy and will be quite a bit of work training-wise. He does do well with other dogs and cats that are used to dogs.

We had many foster applications come through last time, but it’s been a while and we can’t sort through them because they don’t have his name on them, so we can’t determine who applied to foster him or another dog. This little girl was found wandering around on her own in Sheldon, ND. A kind family took her in and have looked for anyone missing her, but no one has come forward. She is not microchipped. We don’t have room at the shelter right now, so we are trying to help this family find her a new home. The family that has taken her in temporarily for the last few weeks has this to say about her:

She looks to be around 1 year old, really young yet. She is mostly potty trained (she gives cues to let you know when she has to go) and is kennel trained. She appears to be good with children, cats, and other dogs. She LOVES car rides! She is very smart and once she knows the boundaries, she stays in the yard. She has also been taught some tricks, as she does sit when she’s being fed.

If you recognize this beautiful girl or are interested in giving her a loving home, please message us and we will get you in contact with the family that has taken her in!

Bonsai (now Toby) came in to the shelter when he was found as a stray near Cooperstown back in June/July. He was wandering on his own for several weeks before a kind couple took him in and brought him to us. After a few weeks of being in our care, the same kind couple that found him contacted us because they just couldn’t get him out of their heads - they filled out an application and took him home as foster-to-adopt until his medical was complete. This weekend, they finalized his adoption!

Join us for Zonta's 3rd Annual Dog Walk this Saturday, September 6th from 10:00am - 2:00pm at McElroy Park! Bring your dog/dogs, or walk a dog or two from JRHS and help socialize them a bit. We hope to see you there!
