COURTESY POST - Buddy is not available for adoption from JRHS - we are just helping find him a good home!
From Buddy’s rescuer:
“I rescued Buddy from the pound due to his time being up the end of September. At the time we were told he was around 4 and good with animals. We have no history on him, all I know for sure is he was very skinny and out on his own for several weeks. He is OK with our mini dachshund (however our dachshund is NOT a fan), Buddy is NOT good with cats, which we discovered when he went after our cat. We also learned that our toddler is also not a fan of larger animals and he is petrified of Buddy, even though Buddy is gentle with him. Buddy is definitely still young, no older than 2, he gets major zoomies, which also has resulted to our toddler being knocked over, making him even more afraid.
Buddy has separation anxiety and he can escape crates. He can also jump our 5ft fence, he might be better with a 6ft privacy fence. The seperation anxiety has also been an issue, as we are a very busy family with four boys, two in sports and our 7mo old has heart issues so we are frequently at his cardiologist in Bismarck.
Buddy does know basic commands (sit, stay, paw, leave it, drop it, load up, down, and off). He is house trained and since I rescued him, he is up to date on his shots and has been neutered. I am continuing to work with Buddy on these issues and also not jumping up on counters or tables to steal food. 🤦♀️
I really think he will make someone an amazing dog, he is a great cuddler, he thinks he's my shadow, he loves car rides, and walks great on a leash. Unfortunately, he is just not a good fit for our family and in reality, I rescued him knowing it would be temporary...just being a pitbull lover/advocate, I couldn't stand by and let him die.
Please help find him an amazing home with older kids and/or other dogs for him to run and play with. I will gladly provide any other information needed, I just want him to find a loving forever home.”
