Little Luna came to us as an owner surrender about a month ago. While her owner was devastated, it was in Luna’s best interest. Earlier today, she found her forever home! We’re sure she was snorting her little piggy snorts all the way home!

Griffin came to us from an out-of-county pound just a few weeks ago when his time was up. After a fairly short stay with us, he has found his forever home!

Ziggy came to us from a CPS case out-of-state just a few weeks ago with his buddy, Quigley. This morning, Ziggy found his forever home! He even got a new brother that matches his energy! He was VERY excited to go home! 😃

This handsome guy was born at the shelter with his siblings. His mom and siblings all found forever homes awhile ago leaving our handsome Poe as the last one 😿 he has finally found his forever home 😽 live your best life sweet Poe, you will be missed but we are so happy for you 🖤

Sven came to the shelter back in June/July from an out-of-county pound, when we were able to save him from the euthanasia list. He got pretty stressed out at the shelter and often showed his caretakers his strong dislike for being there by lifting his leg and urinating through his kennel door into the hallway where we all walked by him. He was also very particular about which dogs he considered friends. Earlier this afternoon, he very quickly made not just 1 new canine friend, but 3! He went to his forever home today with several new buddies!

The owner found him/her and the dog is safe!

Does anyone know this dog? He/she is very cold and has been out running loose for about 8 hours! Animal control, JRHS staff, Dr. Dawn’s staff, along with other bystanders have tried catching her with no luck - she/he is very skittish! She was last seen by Budget Auto, headed towards some houses.

“Rue is a little over 1 year old (her birthday is Nov 2nd). She's a red Heeler mix that's potty trained. The previous owners said she was up to date on her shots (we've had her since September). She was spayed just after her first heat around her 1st birthday. She loves belly rubs, cuddles, and playing with toys. She does play fetch but it's not her favorite thing. She will whimper and occasionally p*e if she is frightened (seems to happen more with men than women). But she stopped doing that after about 3 months of living with us. She does resource guard food and sometimes furniture, but only with our other dog, and never with people.

Although she sometimes struggles with sharing space inside, she is perfectly fine playing with our other dog outside.
So, I think she would be happier in a home where she is the only dog. The previous home had small children, and we've had her around little kids as well and she did just fine.”

Whiskey came to us back in November from another rescue in North Dakota. He’s had a bit of a rough start at life, as he came in with mange when he was found on a reservation. He very quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite at the shelter, with his laid back personality and getting along with everyone. This morning, one of our volunteers caved and took Whiskey home!

Staff had a very bittersweet afternoon today - our sweet baby Spirit finally found her forever home!!

We have all spent so much time with her, helping her recover from when she was dumped and rescued by us on the side of I94, out by Spiritwood back in November. Very, VERY hard to say goodbye to this sweet girl, but definitely worth it! She deserves all the love in the world and then some - congratulations, Spirit! Live your best life, sweetheart! 🐶💕

Thatcher and his caretakers are wondering how in the world he is coming up on his 1 year anniversary of arriving at JRHS and has only had one person interested in him??

This sweet fella, also known as Thatchy-Patchy-Poo, is such a little goofball! He comes across as pretty high-strong at the shelter, but a former employee used to take him home with her for little afternoon dates and he was the bestest boy ever! He is always on his best behavior outside of the shelter and LOVES meeting people and other dogs. Cats, not so much - he gets pretty worked up when he sees them. He has the goofiest personality and is always up to something, usually trying to steal food/toys from his buddy's kennels. He is VERY food/treat motivated. He sits, is potty-trained, and gives LOTS of kisses and snuggles - and he's a nice, medium size at around 50lbs. He is working on not pulling on leash, but is super smart and is catching on outside of the shelter! Whoever ends up adopting this loving boy will be a very lucky family/person!

If you are interested in Thatcher, please message us to set up a time to meet him - we would like to introduce him to potential adopters one-on-one, as he gets worked up when people he doesn't know are standing outside of his kennel looking at him - wouldn't you be, too, if the roles were reversed??
