My dad has bees.Today I went to his house and he showed me all of the honey he had gotten from the hives. He took the lid off of a 5 gallon bucket full of honey and on top of the honey there were 3 little bees, struggling. They were covered in sticky honey and drowning. I asked him if we could help them and he said he was sure they wouldn't survive. Casualties of honey collection I suppose.
I asked him again if we could at least get them out and kill them quickly, after all he was the one who taught me to put a suffering animal (or bug) out of its misery. He finally conceded and scooped the bees out of the bucket. He put them in an empty Chobani yogurt container and put the plastic container outside.
Because he had disrupted the hive with the earlier honey collection, there were bees flying all over outside.
We put the 3 little bees in the container on a bench and left them to their fate. My dad called me out a little while later to show me what was happening. These three little bees were surrounded by all of their sisters (all of the bees are females) and they were cleaning the sticky nearly dead bees, helping them to get all of the honey off of their bodies. We came back a short time later and there was only one little bee left in the container. She was still being tended to by her sisters.
When it was time for me to leave we checked one last time and all three of the bees had been cleaned off enough to fly away and the container was empty.
Those three little bees lived because they were surrounded by family and friends who would not give up on them, family and friends who refused to let them drown in their own stickiness and resolved to help until the last little bee could be set free.
Bee Sisters. Bee Peers. Bee Teammates.
We could all learn a thing or two from these bees.
Bee kind always.~

I did not write this
but WOW does it
speak to my heart!!!

written by French Canadian author Boucar Diouf and is called “Later”

"Barely the day started and
it's already six in the evening.
Barely arrived on Monday
and it's already Friday.. and the month is already over.. and the year is almost over.. and already 40, 50 or 60 years
of our lives have passed. . and we realize that we lost
our parents, friends.. and we realize it's too late
to go back.
So.. Let's try, despite
everything, to enjoy
the remaining time.
Let's keep looking for
activities that we like.
Let's put some color in
our grey.
Let's smile at the little
things in life that put
balm in our hearts.
And despite everything,
we must continue to enjoy
with serenity this time we
have left.
Let's try to eliminate the
afters..
I'm doing it after.
I'll say after.
I'll think about it after.
We leave everything for
later like ′′ after ′′ is ours.
Because what we don't
understand is that:
Afterwards, the coffee
gets cold.
afterwards, priorities change.
Afterwards, the charm is
broken.
Afterwards, health passes.
Afterwards, the kids grow up.
Afterwards parents get old.
Afterwards, promises are
forgotten.
Afterwards, the day becomes
the night.
Afterwards, life ends.
And then it's often too late.
So.. Let's leave nothing for
later.
Because still waiting to see
later, we can lose the
best moments, the best
experiences, best friends,
the best family.
The day is today. The
moment is now.
We are no longer at the
age where we can afford
to postpone what needs
to be done right away."

It Looks Like An Eternity,
But It's A Short Trip,
Enjoy Life And Always
Be Kind.

Happy World Photography Day! The official 1973 Belmont Stakes finish line photograph captures Secretariat the moment his nose hit the finish on June 9, 1973. This image was taken from the track's official finish line camera, offering the mirror image of that moment as well.

Secretariat is shown in full powerful stride, all four feet off the ground as he hits the wire. Jockey Ron Turcotte at that instant is looking to his left toward the infield timer clock, knowing he is a part of a special ride that would ultimately shatter the Belmont Stakes record in a mind-boggling time of 2:24 — a record that still stands today.

We don't get to write a rough draft of our life story, and then go back and edit the parts we didn't enjoy.

We don't get a single do-over.

From the hearts we break, the dumb choices we make, or the words left unspoken, what's done is done.

Of course we can apologize, and try to right the wrongs. We can wake up with a clean slate, and take the next best step.

But we can't tear out pages and gloss them over, or rewrite with a better ending or leave out the painful parts.

Your story is a beautiful one, even on the hard days and the ugly days and the days you want to forget.

God gave you this one, beautiful life- don't waste it.

This is one special saddle. It held Hall of Fame jockey Ron Turcotte in his legendary 1973 Triple Crown victory aboard Secretariat. And that’s just part of its history.

In addition to using this saddle throughout his magnificent 1972 and 1973 races with Secretariat, Turcotte also used it aboard Big Red’s Meadow stablemate Riva Ridge in winning the 1972 Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, as well as in stakes wins with Annihilate ‘Em, Dahlia, Key to the Mint and Summer Guest. The custom-made leather saddle was handcrafted in Kentucky just prior to the 1972 Bluegrass Stakes. Turcotte described this unique and historic artifact as his “Big Race” saddle, and specifically designed it to allow for the heavier weights that were typically assigned to his mounts in stakes and handicap races.

The saddle has been acquired by The Jim Irsay Collection, a traveling exhibition that features museum-quality artifacts and rare memorabilia from American history, music, sports and popular culture. It was important to Turcotte that the saddle find a home where fans across the world would have the opportunity to view it at no cost.

“This special saddle represents a most magical time in my racing career and its personal significance to me and my family goes beyond words,” said Turcotte from his home in New Brunswick, Canada. “I have had the privilege of keeping it safe and secure for nearly 50 years, and now it’s time to let others enjoy the treasures in my collection as well. I am grateful to The Jim Irsay Collection for recognizing the saddle’s historical importance and making it and the Secretariat story available to current and future generations.”

This historic saddle will be on display for the first time on March 4, 2023, at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center during a one-night-only performance of The Jim Irsay Band and exhibition of The Jim Irsay Collection. The event is free and open to the public; tickets are required and available at jimirsaycollection.com. Read more: www.secretariat.com/fan-club/news/

Here's to the Ranch Wife.

The one that works all day, then comes home to do chores and cook supper.
Who has a dirty house, piles of laundry, but a full heart.
Who loves her animals more then anything.
Who sometimes, wears her cutest earrings and makeup even If its only for the cows to see
She loves to dress up, but also loves the feeling of dirt on her hands.
Who is still desperately trying to figure out the bookwork end of things.
Who loves to serve others, and sometimes loses herself a little in the process.

We're all a little different, but all still the same.
I see you my friend.
Keep on keeping on.
The world would be a lot less beautiful without you in it.

His impact on the performance horse industry and the quarter horse itself, will likely outlive us all. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and deeply mourned by his 6666 family.
