As manager of the James River Exotic Animal Sale, I would say our first sale was a great success!! I have lived around Jamestown, ND, most of my life and have not attended many auctions with a gate count of almost 1,000 people attending! Wow!! There were over 300 bidder numbers given out and we had great participation from the crowd. We had amazing support from all over North Dakota and the surrounding states. We also had 3 of the biggest goat buyers in the tri-state area. Not everything went perfect, but we gave it a good shot. The huge amount of people and animal consignments for a first sale was almost overwhelming for our staff. What people don't realize is that the help consisted of family and friends. Without my family's help, we could not have pulled it off. We definitely could not have done it without all the days and hours put in by my father, Roger Foerderer, my oldest son Avery Foerderer and his fiance Brenna Thoele. Avery did an excellent job promoting our sale. My wife, Alisa, and children Shania, Roper, Jaeden, and sister in law Tena Kramlich, put in lots of work and great support as well. I would also like to thank Lonny and Tammy Reuer of Reuer Auctions for all their hard work and time. They run a great Auction Service and went the extra mile. A big thank you to Jon Leadbetter for doing an excellent job auctioneering and all his help and promotion of the sale. In addition, thank you to Logan Hanson for his auctioneering and help as well.
A big thank you to my nephews, Jacob Sund-Abby Wolf, Josiah Sund- Becca Vis, Jonah Sund and niece Elizabeth Sund. Thank you to friends Aaron Baldwin and family, Tim Brehm, Annie Hancock, Yvonne Wegner, Cindi and Ron Schauer, Jeannie Bohl, Leah Keyes, Logan Reister, Brooke Reister, Kevin Thoele, Dean Harr, and my in laws, Clarence and Deb Marsolek.
We also appreciate all the help and advice from Randy Krueger who brought us some awesome birds to our sale. Thanks to our ringman Mike O' Connell and our brand inspector Blaine Northrop. Thank you to every buyer and seller for their support.
One more thing before I end this long post. We've had a lot of criticism for having kids working our sale. Some of them were even heckled by grown adults...almost bullied for helping. REALLY!! Let's remember these kids are our future. Why not teach them instead of put them down. Part of the reason I did this is for the kids as I remember my passion for animals growing up. Thank you once again everyone for coming out and making it a great day. See you next spring. 😊
God Bless,
Joel Foerderer
