The Soggy Acres Story

Jeff Fuller, owner of Soggy Acres Retrievers and Host/Executive Producer of SportingDog Adventures TV, always loved dogs, but never imagined making a career out of it. Fuller had a successful career in law enforcement with the Muskego Police Department before an injury in the line of duty ended his career. Looking for a new path after his injury, Jeff turned to his constant companion, Candlewoods Lily Belle, a chocolate lab he had received as a gift in 1998, and decided to develop a formal breeding program. Jeff created a breeding program centered around producing pedigreed Labrador retrievers, with a good temperaments suited to success in both the field and the family room. The Soggy Acres kennel now yields approximately ten litters annually, with demand coming from nearly every state. In addition to breeding, the Soggy Acres facilities have since expanded to offer training and boarding for all breeds.

The success of the kennel led to opportunities in public speaking and trade shows, which in turn, led to spots on outdoors shows, including the local classic Outdoor Wisconsin on Milwaukee Public Television. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Jeff thought the concept of a magazine-format television program aimed at outdoors-minded families and centered around the dogs would have broad appeal. His instincts proved correct. Now in its 4th season, SportingDog Adventures now airs internationally in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and online, on networks including The Pursuit Channel, Wild TV Canada, Tuff TV, The Walk, and Carbon TV, reaching over 129 million households and counting!

Unlike other “hunting” shows, Jeff’s SportingDog Adventures focuses on the experience of hunting, and not just the kill. The show appeals to viewers of all ages and both genders, by focusing on the canine athletes and their skills in a myriad of beautiful landscapes in the US and Canada. Viewers come along, not just for the hunt, but for educational segments too, like cooking wild game, training your gun dog, selecting the right gear, and getting youth involved. The dogs keep the action moving each week as a new upland, waterfowl, or big game adventure ensues.

Jeff Fuller resides in Delavan, Wisconsin, with his family, which includes a wife and three young boys and several fuzzy, four-footed members. “Soggy Acres” is comprised of 23 acres in the Delavan/ Darien, Wisconsin area, including five acres of ponds. In addition to this great training facility, Jeff owns a 37 acre property in northern Wisconsin, bordered by the Nicolet National Forest. Prior to retiring from law enforcement, Jeff served 6 years as an Army Reserve soldier.
