Just a quick video explaining how we have our rodent room set up. Please keep in mind that I just got done cleaning all of the tubs so the bucket for the mice was added after. I apologize for the semi-poor quality of the video, my phone is a j10 from 2015 so it's pretty terrible these days. >-<
Our weaned females, and their moms. X3
Male mice - Weaned and Adult
Upwards of 52 weaned / small rats. All weaned ths other day, and all born a few days apart. Should also have 4 mediums and have 2 large / jumbo sized retired breeders (no longer producing healthy #s even w/ only having 4 litters with breaks in between).
15 sub-adult / adult mice also available. Colony is still small but will hopefully have larger #s soon as we currently have 3 litters w/ a total of 28 pups (14, 6, + 8). We will not be selling any pinkies until we have a larger colony to accommodate.
Message for details.

Baba Yaga's litter of 16. Not much interaction with these guys right now, especially since their mom has it out for every human she sees. She will even attack her water bottle when I go to either remove it to fill it, or to put it back on her tub. >-< thank the gods her pups are soooooooo sweet though. Never had an issue with any of them. If it wasnt for her being such a great mom and giving us such large litters, she would of been culled off, tbh. =S
Two of our hold backs. These two does will replace badger and champagne if they are completely retired. If not, then these two will still be apart of our breeding colony. I have to work with these girls some more as they're a tad skittish, but they are not mean at all as you can see in the video. Only Baba Yaga is the mean one. XD
Badger and champagne babies. These two girls will most likely be retiring after this litter. They're just not producing like they should. We MAY try with 1 more litter with them in separate tubs, but idk. =/ we love these two girls and the pups they've produced but when you go from getting around 12 pups per mom down to 9 in total they're sharing with more than half culled, that's a huge hit. T^T
Our 15 + 11 pup litters. These guys are so beautiful, and their mommas are so sweet!
Our mice, both our last litter, our hopefully pregnant, 2 - 3 expecting mommas, and our lonely boy who doesn't have any girls to be with yet. Lol
We have yet to go to the store to get the proper tubing for their watering system, so I'm constantly having to fight with them about shavings in their water dish. >->
Update on the wee ones! The pups are growing up quick and will soon be big enough to go into the grow out bin where they will either stay together, or be separated by sex, idk yet. 🤔 we are keeping 1 of them for sure, a little cream and white that I picked up in the video, but may keep another (one of the solid creams with a white diamond face). We've already got 2 boys we're holding back, so possibly just gonna hold back the girls for now.
Momma, as explained in the video, is usually in a much larger cage, but due to the bar width, she had to be moved to the smaller cage to prevent escaping. We also normally keep our rats and mice in totes (not tanks), but as you could see in the video, this girl is a heavy chewer. -_- we have lost several lids and totes to her, but I am doing my best to repair them with wire.
These babies had their bedding changed and just look how happy they are! Instead of sleeping in a corner, they're now running all over the crash shavings.
Before anyone questions us, our rats have their bedding changed multiple times a week, especially the boys and the weaned pups like these guys. The pup bins will also ALWAYS have 2 bowls for food. The large hanging bowls, and a dog bowl as shown. =)
Doin some late night cleaning and thought I'd get a video of the available rat pups we have. They're all tame as we raise all of our rats as if they were pets. This helps ensure that they don't attack us or each other. If they do turn, they're culled off immediately (the guilty ones) to prevent any more loss. So far none have had to be culled, which is a good thing. We'll need more of these large tubs soon though, as we don't want to have to many. Right now there's 25 in one tub (larger rats, 1st tub) and 22 in the other tub (smaller weaned rats, 2nd tub).
