Well, (shaking my head), once again, the weather has closed us down. I haven't seen snow in 10 years, until today. Not gonna lie, I'm loving this!
Happy Easter to my Fur Family! I do hope that today marks new beginnings and positivity in any way that you want or need. God has blessed me in so many ways, including surrounding me with a huge village of kind and loving humans and fur babies. It's our very first Easter here with many more to come!! If we haven't met yet, stop by and day hello!
I appreciate all my understanding and empathetic fur parents, who had to reschedule yesterday and today. I'm not supposed to get sick, ever. I have too much to do and too many people counting on me. No matter how many times I try to explain to nature that I am off limits to viruses and bacteria, it never listens. I rarely get sick, but when I do, I REALLY GET SICK. So thank you for everyone who reminded me that no one chooses to get sick, and to focus on getting better. So many people get angry and offended if we, groomers, have to take time off at the last minute because our loved ones are sick or we are sick. Believe me, I would rather be grooming than throwing up, weak and bed ridden. It looks like I am over the worst and will be able to start grooming again tomorrow or Tuesday. I was going to groom today, my day off, to make up for rescheduling yesterday, but my body said no. Believe me, I never get upset if someone cancels an appointment with me, at the last minute, because I know things happen that are completely out of control. God's Will be done! We might be steering the boat but God owns it! I forget that, a lot. ALSO, I just talked to my friend Jackie and she has 3 Bengal babies left. If you're interested, go to Kingdomcats and send her a message. Lula, who cane from Kingdom Cats, thinks she is one of the dogs. I had read that they love dogs, but her acting as if she is one if them is so adorable! She's been nursing me back to health. I love Lula so much! Have a great Sunday guys! !
Ace is a new client who blew us away. He had a reputation for being very aggressive and biting groomers. Not anymore. He's so very intelligent and receptive to patience and affection. He didn't like the force dryer so we put him in a kennel to dry underneath a steady flow of gentle air. It takes longer but it's better than the trauma that's caused by force dryers if they aren't acclimated slowly. He did NOT like being in a kennel. We put him in a play yard and he quickly learned how to skoot around the room. I was standing across the room and felt a little lick on my hand. It was Ace, who had figured out how to push it to get where he wanted to go! I had to get it on video to prove just how intelligent and sentient these little beings are. They are never "mean", just misunderstood! He was so adorable and cute, I couldn't help but laugh. He loved my assistant Cassandra right away. I'm really impressed with how gentle, kind and patient she is with each baby who visits us! They immediately trust her. I'm so fortunate to have her!
There is a certain "grooming salon" in Jasper that people are booking online appts for. I've had several calls today from people saying they had an appointment at this particular place, that they booked online, went, and no one is there. How sad is it to familiarize clients with being able to drop off and walk in and then just close on them, with no Facebook posts, not taking down online booking, and simply not answering the phone. I have never ever heard of or known of anyone opening a salon, doing as many dogs as possible, then just closing and leaving everyone hanging. If I seem mean or hateful, I apologize. This is not me most of the time. But when you put blood, sweat, tears, lots of years, energy, heart and soul into a career, and support an industry that you love, then someone comes along, with no experience, abuses human and fur baby clients, lies to them.... basically hiking the proverbial leg and peeing all oven the pet parents who need us, and every groomer who has worked so hard to attain their level of skill to be able to give safe and beautiful grooms....its upsetting. Its ENRAGING all the things I've seen and heard from pet parents who overpaid for services they didn't recieve from people with no experience, and I've seen fur babies injured and traumatized by unskilled hands and ignorant minds. I know this rant may seem unprofessional, but I have always advocated for anyone who can't for themselves. Our fur babies don't have the voices needed to keep the wolves at bay. It's up to us to educate ourselves and scream loud when people like this abuse our innocent abd defenseless. It's not about being cut throat and throwing a salon under the bus to remove competition. I can't nor do I want to groom every fur baby in Jasper. What I want is for there to be a large selection of knowledgeable and kind groomers in Jasper, giving pet parents the ability to choose the right groomer for their needs. Which is why I'm working in my "secret lab" to create something
I want to thank my grooming family for letting their family and friends know about me. I have done very little advertising, and have been able to stay busy enough to be able to buy this gargantuan table just for my large fur babies (poodles, doodles, shephards, labs, etc)!!!! They will be much more comfortable with this one! I'm embarrassed to admit my current table is way outdated. It's just too small for everyone. It's coming next Monday! All of your loyalty, your kind words about me and the fact that you gave this new girl in town a chance has given me the opportunity to buy new equipment to give your fur babies the luxury experience they deserve! When I sold my salon in Cali, I had to leave most all of my equipment behind as a part of the sale. Moving here, I have basically started completely over! Wee! I'm so excited! I appreciate you!
We met Ruby, Milo and Moka last yesterday. Ruby was the first to try our new head massager. I think she liked it!
