As much as I hate to make this post: I am officially without a car for the unforeseeable future. It's looking like a transmission issue, which even with all the money in the world, won't be fixed quickly.

What does this mean?
Currently, it means all my farms are on ice. All my transportation is at a halt. And drop in care is localized to mostly Ball Ground.

My car is at a shop waiting to be officially diagnosed. They've come highly recommended, but this was also dumped in their lap, and all I can do is hurry up and wait.

Send good vibes our way. We could use them.

I am coming to you, once again to ask for prayers of healing and peace. Throw in a good vibe or two if you can.
The guardian dog I've been caring for every evening for over 18 months blew a knee two months ago. Well last night she decided she didn't like the plate in her leg and why not just blow the other knee while we are at it. It will be an EXPENSIVE and long road to recovery but we have been told recovery is possible and she will be allowed to go back to guarding her herd.
In the meantime, though, her mama is quite worried. So fingers eyes and toes crossed for all good news moving forward.

The world and the sweetest family lost a Best Baby last night. Brady Mans has been stealing my hashbrowns for over five years and has had my heart since day one. I've gotten to watch him go from young and spry and sassy to an old gray man and what an honor it has been to be loved by him. Rest easy and run free, buddy. Your legs works like they should and McDonalds serves breakfast 24/7 where you're headed 🌈🐾

This page may have a lot of farm photos, but the bread and butter is still doggos. That said-- October and November are my slowest months.

If you or anyone you know is making trips north and can snag anyone stranded or you've been displaced due to the recent disaster and know of pets (ideally mostly dogs) that need TEMPORARY respite please feel free to reach out. I can't take everyone, but some is better than none. We can get them cleaned up, fed, and safe until we can collectively come up with a game plan.

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY VOLUNTEER SITUATION! Pay what you can or none at all. Let's just get all four feet under us again, shall we?

This past winter I spent, maybe too much, time building trust with the rescue horse on one of my farms I work. He's ran from me. He's reared up on me. He's bit horses I'm trying to halter. He's even had me have the owner out to try to catch him with no luck.

Fast forward to yesterday and his ferrier didn't accept my offered help to catch Luke. Which is fine...but it didn't go super smoothly.

Here I come this morning into the pasture and the first horse to greet me was Luke. He rested his head on my chest and shoulder almost to say "did you SEE what they DID?! There were halters and ropes and it was AWFUL!"
So naturally we had to spend a little extra time talking this morning. Love this sweet big baby.

Calling in a paid, pre storm favor from any of my amazing truck owning people.
I am needing (3) alfalfa hay bales picked up from Cherokee Feed and dropped off to a farm just outside of the Freehome roundabout headed towards Cu***ng THIS MORNING if possible.

I am buttoning up farms for storms and I cannot fit the hay I need in my poor GMC Terrain.

Fall break has come and gone. I took a break from my phone, professionally to focus on the care of the animals here for break as well as my own mental health. We had an absolute blast caring for all the creatures: big and small and we continue to be overwhelmingly grateful for the trust you put in the Savvy Sitter! Next stop-- October! 🍁

What a morning on the farm: the barn cat is just putting it out there in broad daylight (Huss...), Millie Goat was flirting with me. Dunn let me know exactly how he felt about needing to move pastures BEFORE his breakfast, and Ryan got to see what I meant by "Hide the fly spray bottle from Luke for the love of all things holy" and got a good show of me trying to stop three separate rear-ups. Luke and I compromised on SWAT paste in the end and he was returned to his "herd" with minimal attitude and a whole lot of side-eye.

Who even needs coffee?! 🤪

You can't convince me that horses don't have a sixth sense. This is Luke, or Lukey Pookie as Hunter calls him. He is not catchable unless he's the last horse in the pasture. He does not like petting much and often will mosey away when I approach. We've had a few, brief moments of affection, but mostly I just respect his space. He was abused and rescued from a neglect/hoarder case and he never forgot what he went through.

The last few weeks of life have been heavy. There's been deaths, funerals, family, and heartbreak that i cant take away. I did not want to get out of bed this morning, if I'm totally honest. But the moment I entered the pasture, who do I see coming up but Luke. He rested his head on my cheek, shoulder, and thigh. He let me love all over him and down his body. We stood there for probably close to 15 minutes just silently communing this morning. And I felt a tinge of happy enter my heart.

Find a reason to smile today 💜 I know I did.

Life lately. Once upon a time I used to log into my work laptop, belting 'I DONT WANNA WORK...!' to the tune of 'I Don't Wanna Wait' from the top of my lungs. Today my alarm goes off and I know I'm going to care for animals that are happy to see me. I can take my coffee out on to my porch, play fetch, and watch the sun dance over the mountains. I guess the old adage is true: love what you do and never work a day in your life.

Everyone say 'Hi Jolene'

She is a 3 year old houd mix with a heart of gold.
There's just one problem: she, much like myself, doesn't do well with being woken up from a dead sleep. Unfortunately, she also lives with two toddlers. While they love her and she adores them, the safety of the children has come into question as she has been startled awake twice by the youngest and has reactively bitten.
As hard as it is, the family has decided it would be much safer for everyone involved if Jolene lived somewhere without small children. She has been minimally exposed to dogs and never to cats or small animals. She's a lover not a fighter but she needs a fighting chance.

If you think you might be interested or a good fit, please reach out or share to those who may. I'm offering free temperament testing and cat testing if needed before rehoming.

Double business shoutout coming your way!

I was simply not allowed to drive through Ball Ground today without taking Doobs in to see his friends at where he was showered with familiar welcomes, scratches, and treats. He then made it very known he was ready for his dehydrated duck foot and was not prepared to allow me to finish paying for it before he could have it. If you're ever in the area we highly suggest checking them out!

Second, yet probably most importantly is Alex Johnston with Weldon HVAC. I made a post in desperation and received tons of recommendations. Alex not only showed up when he said he would, he gave a 30 minute heads up, and refused to leave until he found a solution. He was polite, thorough, and kind and took my wallet and stress level into account. So much so I basically had to chase him down with a tip. Not to mention how gentle and patient he was with the dogs. If you need HVAC or duct service he's the ONLY call I'd make!
