I took a picture of this guy this morning and I thought it was a good picture. I'm not especially high on blaze heads but what the heck pretty is as pretty does. I would have to look at the tattoo in the ol puppys ear to see who he is but I think he is out of Muddy Creek Pick x Muddy Creek Tallgrass Rocky. He has a nose as good as they come.

Nice pup that has his ears up on top of his head like I like to see long nosing a bird way over there this morning in the sprinkling down rain. We usually call rainy days pancake days around here because we go in the house and eat some blueberry pancakes for breakfast until the rain lets up. This morning was blueberry pancakes! For the folks that like the solid liver ones, here is a little gal that ran up her first bird this morning, followed it up and got it pointed! I had a customer that wanted a solid liver female the other day and I told him I would see what there was. That was six days ago on the 24th. We got her out and started her Monday. She now belongs to customer Tony Campagna East Moline, Ilinois and her name is "Indy". She is out of Muddy Creek Quick x Muddy Creek Eight Ball.

We had our last Muddy Creek BDC team trial this past Saturday for this season. Next trial will be the third Saturday of October and will plan to have a trial every third Saturday October-April. We will be looking forward to Saturday October 19th. and plan to shoot Chukar. We had a all around good trial Saturday, pretty day, birds flew like wild birds, saw some nice dogs, and had some good friendly competition! Jim and Drake Acheson took champion with "Hoss" and "Boy". They put up a great score of 135 pts. with an extra retrieve on a two bird flush! Five finds, five backs, and six retrieves in 21 minutes fifteen seconds and they shot six times! With that run they knocked Dan Dismang/ "Whiskey" and Casey Henry/ "Cap" out of first to runner-up with five, five and five perfect score in 21 minutes 27 seconds. Third went to Dan and Casey with "Etta" and "Gracie" five finds, five backs and four retrieves for 115 pts. in eighteen minutes and forty five seconds. Fast but no cigar. Thanks to Garth Blackburn for judging and Jodie for all her help!

Our last Muddy Creek Team Trial for this year will be Saturday the 20th. Two dogs, two shooters, thirty minute brace or time called at fifth find bird to hand or run out of shells whichever comes first. Plant six birds per brace. Everyone welcome, good friendly competition and let the best score win! Tie breaker is time remaining at fifth find, bird to hand. Should be a nice day according to the extended forecast, but time will tell. They are saying cloudy and some rain maybe. Cost is 40.00, lunch is chili and hot dogs, indoor restroom. We will draw braces as soon as we have everyone here and will try to run the first brace at 8:00. We are looking forward to a good day and will have good flying birds that might be a game changer! New chicks. We try to raise about 10,000 quail a year to shoot for the dogs. Sounds like a lot of birds but when you shoot 70-80 birds per dog you go through a bunch. We shoot 20-25 birds a day. We don't sell birds, we use them working the dogs!

We had a good trial this last Saturday the 16th. Nice day and stiff competition! We started doing these Muddy Creek BDC Team trials in 2017. In a trial way back there a couple of guys with Setters ran a brace and were finished in 7 minutes and however many seconds. That is five finds, five backs and five retrieves with a perfect score in 7 minutes. Fastest time we ever had! Well... Dan Dismang and Mark Terry went out there with "Whiskey" and "Cassie" and finished their brace in 7 minutes 4 seconds with a perfect score to beat that record! And... then Dan Dismang and Casey Henry went out there with "Ella" and "Gracie" and did it again in 7 minutes 10 seconds! That was Champion and Runner-Up and third went to Garth and Jodie Blackburn with wirehair "Finney" and shorthair "Gypsy" who ran their brace with a perfect score and a fast time also finishing in 11 minutes 55 seconds. Great scores!

Muddy Creek Team Trial this coming up Saturday the 16th. Might be a little warm but we will have a good trial with whatever we get! We have put out water barrels mid field on both sides where a dog can get a good drink. Draw early as possible and it is getting full light about 7:30 so we should be able to run the first brace 8:00-8:30. Plant six birds per brace, thirty minute brace or fifth find bird to hand which ever comes first. Looking forward to a good trial and some good friendly competition!

Team work! Looking forward to our next Muddy Creek BDC Team Trial coming up this month Saturday the 16th. Might be a little warm if things keep on the way it's been going lately but this is Missouri so you never know it might be snowing. Two dogs, two shooters, four shells each, either dog can point, either dog can back, either dog can retrieve and either shooter can shoot! Thirty minute brace or time called at fifth find, bird to hand. Plant six birds per brace and we are going to shoot quail this trial. 40.00 each entry. 10 pts. for the find, 5 pts. for the back, and 10 pts. for the retrieve. 125 is a perfect score and time remaining is tie breaker. Results from last Saturday February 17th. Muddy Creek BDC Team Trial goes like this! Champion went to the hard to beat team of Garth and Jodie Blackburn with up and coming good dog "Maverick" and good ol been good ol 14 year old "Bena" with 125 pts. in 13.15 minutes with 16.45 remaining. Runner-up went to team Josh Warstler and Carl Roberson with Josh's up and coming good dog "Titus" and Carl's good ol "Gypsy" momma with 125 pts. and 5.50 remaining. Place or third went to team Ron Close and John Rhumes with setters "Sam" and "R***r" with a good clean run of 125 pts. and 1.57 remaining. Honorable mention with 125 pts. goes to Greg Wison and Carl Roberson with Greg's up-and-coming hard to beat shorthairs "Chester" and "Marcie". Missing some serious hard to beat competition from the pointer guys Trey Foster representing the pointers with "Queenie" and "Bess" came in dead last! Better luck next time Trey. Mark on your calendar March 16th. for next months trial!

Looking forward to next Saturday the 17th. Muddy Creek BDC Team Trial. Things are drying up a little bit around here and there is still plenty of good cover. We are going to shoot quail and these birds are quick. Plant six birds each brace, thirty minute brace, two dogs, two shooters, four shells each, time called at fifth find bird to hand, when you run out of shells or thirty minutes whichever comes first! Either dog can point, either dog can back, either dog can retrieve, either shooter or both can shoot. You don't have to remain stationary for the retrieve and can help the dogs with retrieve...look in here, dead bird, find him, etc. Dogs can wear shock collars, one of the dogs can drag a checkcord, you can collar either dog for training purposes. Good clean runs being the objective and developing young dogs. Lunch provided, indoor restroom, youth are welcome and encouraged. Cost is 40.00 each.
