When I came across this on Facebook it really hit home, so I felt I should share it.

Many times the dogs we rescue have never known anything besides being a yard dog, perhaps kept on the end of a chain- but we bring them home and expect them to have perfect house manners- that just isn’t realistic.

Just like anything else in life, having a well balanced and behaved dog takes hard work. It takes a great owner or foster to have a great dog.

Please remember, people aren’t perfect and neither are dogs. If you don’t intend to put in the work then don’t have dogs- help in some other way.

Have you met our pretty girl Thumbelina?

We rescued this beauty from the Douglasville Shelter a few weeks back to save her life but she has been in paid boarding since then.

Thumbelina is a fun, 2yr (approximately) girl. She loves other dogs, loves working on her obedience training and would love to find a family of her very own.

Thumbelina is crate trained, we believe housebroken and has medium energy.

It’s $5 Friday!!!

Today our Friday fundraiser is all about Snickers Joe!!

Snickers Joe came to BarkVille Dog Rescue after being hit by a car and languishing in an open intake shelter. Unfortunately by the time we were able to rescue him, it was too late to fix his leg. It had already healed (not perfectly). Regardless, Snickers Joe gets around without a care in the world and is a super happy guy.

Snickers is in need of a new foster or forever home but we would like to send him to training to learn all his best manners and basic obedience skills first. We feel helping Snicker Joe put his best paw forward will help him tremendously to land in a great home.

Training is essential for a lot of rescue dogs- it makes them more adoptable and more likely to stay in their adoptive home for their lifetime. That is why BarkVille puts such an emphasis on providing training to our dogs.

Damia and Garwin are looking for fosters or foster to adopt homes! Thet are 7 weeks old and approximately 8lbs.

These two cuties can be officially adopted once they are spayed/neutered but can go to their forever homes now as “foster to adopt”!!

We believe these pups are Lab mixes. Mom is a smaller dog about 30lbs but we guess Dad was a Lab Mix. We guesstimate that the pups will be 45lbs or so when full grown.

It's $2 Tuesday!!! Please Donate!!

We are seeking your support through donations to help cover the costs of boarding for our expanding list of dogs.

Although we desperately require foster homes, we will no longer actively pursue them, as we assume those willing to assist would have already done so. It is frustrating to witness our dogs languishing in boarding; however, we are grateful for our remarkable volunteers who provide them with exercise and companionship.

We are appealing for donations to aid in covering our substantial monthly expenses for boarding and food, which have surged to around $6500.

Your contribution is vital in enabling us to provide a secure environment for our 13, soon to be 15, dogs while we strive to find their permanent homes.

Beautiful Keira! Can you go walk her? Can you foster her?

We are worried about this young girl who had been stuck in boarding for over a month now. We received a call from the veterinary staff asking if it was okay to give her some medication because she is experiencing kennel stress. She is a playful, friendly, young girl who just wants to play, learn and have fun!!

We’ve been working hard to find fosters for 12 dogs but so far we have been unsuccessful. It’s the time of year and for whatever reason people seem very hesitant to help.

If you are in the Johns Creek area we would love to have you go over and give our dogs a walk or a some time out of their kennels. If you can take a dog for a few weeks or even an overnight that would be amazing!!

If you can foster Keira or any of our boarding dogs we would be thrilled for your assistance.

Marvelous Mugsy would be so happy if he could find someone willing to give him a foster home!!

Mugsy came to BarkVille in pretty rough shape- so skinny the veterinarian was worried he may have a malabsorption condition. Thankfully under the care of our vet, Mugsy has put on some much needed weight and seems to be progressing nicely!!

Mugsy is about 5 yrs old, he is dog friendly and super sweet!! He is crate trained and appears housebroken .

Coleman is good on a leash. He is crate & house trained. He enjoys cats from afar and needs a slow intro dogs his size or larger.

When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are against you.

Finding foster homes for our boarding dogs is crucial. We won’t stop asking for help; we have dogs in boarding for months. One dog needs surgery, but can’t have it until a foster is found; another puppy is on medication due to boarding-related stress. It’s sad and frustrating to keep asking for help when no one seems willing to assist.

Our amazing fosters work hard to provide training, structure, and love, but they need your support.

We’re struggling to cover boarding and food costs for many dogs, all of whom deserve better.

Consider fostering; we need you to continue our lifesaving mission.

If you have time, spend it with our boarding dogs or take them out; we appreciate any help. Volunteer and foster applications are on our website at www.barkvilledogrescue.org.

Our cute Betty White has an indomitable spirit and love of life! Nothing holds this girl back from enjoying every moment!! This girl has been through Total Ear Ablation, hypothyroidism, several tumors removed and she just smiles and works on getting better! Now the poor girl has torn her cranial cruciate ligament and needs TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery to repair her knee so that she can go back to being a happy, joyful girl!! Betty may be 8-10 yrs old but she has a lot of living to do and we want to do everything we can to make that happen for her. We never give up on our dogs if they have a good quality of life. Betty had the best quality of life!! TPLO surgery is approximately $2000 and we know that’s a lot- but honestly Betty is so worth it!! Meet ✨Velvet✨ Velvet is a friendly and loving young Pitbull/Mix. She’s born around April 2022 and weighs 45lbs. She has a beautiful black and white brindle coat, and a physically fit physique! Velvet is dog friendly, and is very loving and playful! She has not been tested with kids but based on her personality she would likely be kid friendly. She has a medium energy level, and plays well with other dogs or on her own. Velvet would love a forever family that has another playful dog, but this is not a requirement. She is crate trained and house trained, and has good leash manners. Velvet is eager to please and is described by her foster Mom as both obedient and intelligent. She will be a wonderful addition to a family looking for a loving and loyal companion. She enjoys car rides and would love to go on fun outings with a forever family!
