Please foster Roman.

This beautiful, friendly, medium size boy is just about to hit the 3 month mark in boarding. He likes people, he knows some commands, he is good on leash, he likes dogs, he is very handsome- but for whatever reason he has been overlooked for almost 3 months. We’re sure he is starting to get kennel stress, we are sure he isn’t happy- we saved him from Clayton County to make his life better- and so far we have failed this loving dog.

It truly brings tears to my eyes knowing we aren’t giving this guy what he needs. What else can we do to get him into a foster or forever family? We’ve tried everything- pleading for fosters, marketing him, getting him to events but so far nothing has worked.

There is no way we can continue saving additional lives while lives we have already saved are not living the life we want them to have. Sure, they are alive, but what kind of life is boarding 24/7 with a short walk a few times a week?

Meet Lucas!

Lucas is looking for his forever family! Lucas is professionally trained through Rucker Dog Training and comes with free lifetime training for his adoptive family! He is very smart and knows all his basic commands, has excellent leash manners, and is trained on and off leash. He is best described as a happy, friendly, and sweet boy!

Lucas is around 2 years old and he is dog friendly with proper introductions. He would love a family who will continue to follow through with his training and he would like a fenced in backyard. Lucas is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

BarkVille Needs Help!!

We have WAY too many dogs sitting in boarding. We need foster families in a major way.

We ALWAYS try to save dogs when we can but we are at the point where the dogs we have already saved are NOT living the life we want for them. They are literally going crazy because of kennel stress.

Can you commit to fostering until the dog is adopted? Can you foster for a few weeks? Anything at this point helps.

Cindy’s Big Day!!! Adoptions are Cool!!

We were not surprised to learn that Cindy was a shelter favorite after she came to BarkVille! She is comical, super cute and very lovable!

Her forever family saw her pictures and had to come meet her! In between Cindy had to have a big surgery but her new family was willing to wait until she’d was healed enough to go home with them! Her awesome foster family took such good care of her and nursed her back to health and gut her well enough to move along on her journey!!!

We’re so happy to say the big day came and now Cindy is part of a wonderful family!!! We’re so happy for this amazing dog!!!

Adoptions make all the hard stuff in rescue worth the effort!! Adoptions are Cool 😎!!!!

Please Foster!!

Darius - this handsome boy “still” sitting in boarding- since November.

Staff and volunteers call Darius pretty much a couch potato once he gets his walk and some attention! Right now he has some pent up energy from being in boarding so long but otherwise this guy is a gem.

Please consider fostering Darius! He deserves a life outside of the walls of boarding. BarkVille will provide a crate, collar, leash, ID tag, food if needed, monthly prevention and any veterinary care he might need. You provide him with a home setting to flourish and find his forever family.

Darius is crate trained, appears housebroken, dog and people friendly.

It’s $5 Friday!! Please Donate!!!

We rescued Stella and Zandra from Clayton County AC last week to save their lives- 7 others weren’t so lucky.

Both girls are in bad condition- emaciated, terrified and both heartworm positive. They came with $350 each which covered about half of the regular vet care and boarding costs and now we need your help to raise $1000 to cover their heartworm treatment.

They may need training down the road but for now we need to concentrate on their physical well being and get them healthy. Then we’ll assess things and see if they need training help as well.

Foster Home Needed!! Fully Obedience Trained Girl!!

Jaycee is a lovable girl that needs slow introductions to other dogs before she makes friends- sounds like a smart dog to me!!!

Here is what one of her awesome trainers says adopt her- Sweet bumble bee Jaycee is in need of a foster or forever home. This cuddle bug is the happiest snuggle bug and has done so great with her training. She is now trained on and off leash and trained to work with a muzzle. According to her rescue she needs slower introductions with new dogs but I have never seen her show any sign of aggression. In a home situation that might be different hence the muzzle training. Her foster/new owner will receive training before taking her home. She also comes with a lifetime of advanced classes with Rucker Dog Training to help maintain her training as well.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Wow- 2024 was a tough year and we are so happy to ring in the New Year because we just know it’s going to be a better year!!!

In 2024, we struggled to find foster homes, our inbox, voicemail and private messages were full of owners wanting to surrender their dogs and many situations of despair. Shelters begging us to save lives that would otherwise be euthanized- and unfortunately many times last year we could not help- not because we didn’t want to, but because we truly had nowhere to put a dog and not enough funds to care for it.

Last year was our slowest year since our inception and we only managed to save 191 dogs. While the number is much lower than we would like, we know that for those dogs saved 2025 holds a lot more promise and positivity!!

We would love to double the amount of dogs saved in 2025 and we’ll definitely try our best but we will need your help- it will take more volunteers, more fundraising and more foster homes.

We would love your help in 2025- in whatever capacity you can volunteer- this rescue thing takes a village and it’s all about rescuing responsibly and providing the best for each dog saved.

Who is seriously the cutest puppy ever??!!!

We need this feel good story this morning for sure!!

We were so sad sad just before Christmas when we got the news that Jake aka Lone Ranger was being returned due his adopters serious illness. Jake had been with his loving family for 5 yrs and we knew it was going to be very hard on everyone to return him to rescue. But, we made the best of it- we took this sweet guy back, got him a spot at boarding with our friends at Bridge Park Animal Hospital while we set to work on finding him a foster home.

Thankfully one of our long term fosters and friends offered to take Jake for the weekend and give him a boarding break - which was awesome because he had barked so much in boarding he was hoarse. The weekend went well- Jake enjoyed the other dog, the cat and loved being with the family. Come Monday we got an email saying they would like to continue fostering Jake and then a few days later we got news they could not part with him as he was now part of the family!!!!

In rescue we see so many sad and discouraging things that when something like this happens we have to stop and savor the goodness!!!

Adoptions are very Cool 😎 and there are a lot of good people in the world!!!

URGENT!!!

We received a plea from the shelter volunteer early this am about Journey. BarkVille Dog Rescue needs another dog without a foster or funds like we need a hole in our head. But sometimes you just have to do the right thing regardless of if it creates an imposition- a life hangs in the balance.

Journey is being rushed to our vet now- she is in a lot of pain and acting snappish- who can blame her????

Akers is adopted!!!

We’re so happy to say that Akers was adopted by his foster family!!

Akers has been with his foster family for awhile now and he’s so thrilled they opted to adopt!!

We need Fosters!!!!

Our Boarding Dogs spent Christmas alone and in boarding. This surely isn’t what we planned for them. But what do we do when no one will foster?

Some of these pups have been in boarding since October- that’s a very long time. Each of these dogs is dog and human friendly- we have no way to cat test them currently. They are all energetic because they have been cooped up too long- but once they get some exercise they will all be fantastic dogs!!

Won’t you consider helping a dog in need? Even if you can only foster for a week or two- it helps - they need a break out of boarding.
