Pet spotlight! Meet Liesel, who came into our Ellijay location for a Caesarean surgery. Dr. Imke and his tech, Kendall stayed in surgery to help Liesel and also surgically remove her 5 puppies! All 5 puppies and Liesel made it thanks to Dr. Imke in surgery and Dr. Villa, Dr. Boone, Allie, Nicole and Courtney providing neonatal care to the puppies!!

Here's what our Jasper and Foothills locations have been up to... We decided to try out the "Balloon Pop Challenge"! We let the doctors, techs and even the receptionists try to stick a needle into the balloon and not have it pop. Here's how it turned out!

The results are in! Blue and whisper belong to Dr. Skrobot!!

Dr. Skrobot grew up near the Blue Ridge Mountains in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. She later moved to Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from The University of Georgia. She received her D.V.M. from UGA’s College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2012. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Georgia Veterinary Medical Association. She resides in Canton, GA with her husband, 2 daughters, her dog, and cats. She enjoys traveling, hiking and being outdoors. Dr. Skrobot mainly works at our Foothills location. If you would like to make an appointment with Dr. Skrobot, please call (770)-894-4233.

FRIDAY FURKID:

Would you check out those pouty lips? How about those green eyes? Look at
those hi-lites on the curly parts of his coat. He’s a combo of sweet, happy, and
adorable! Chibi is around 4 years old and a solid 25 pounds of love. He enjoys
being playful but most of all wants to be around his peeps; especially if belly rubs
are being offered.

Blue (left), is super affectionate and cuddly. He’s extremely food motivated and uses his charm to get extra treats whenever possible.

Whisper (right) is, ironically, the loudest cat on the planet. She annoyingly knows how to open doors and even though she’s the smallest, she clearly runs the house.

Cute Puppy Monday!! The bottom two English Bulldog puppies are for sale! In the photo of them in the stroller, the top, mostly brown face puppy is not for sale. But there is still a boy and girl puppy for sale! If you are interested please let us know and we will get you in contact with their owner! They were in today for their first puppy shots and exams. The puppies are 7 weeks old! As you can tell, everyone loved them here in Jasper!

Would you check out this face? Meet Mickey, a 2 ½ year old Boston Terrier, who is full of pure love for people and energy galore! He is an adorable compact 24 lbs. He has lived in a home and was obviously well loved. Mickey has never met a stranger! He greets everyone with exhuberance and a smile! He is vetted and ready to meet his new family.

What a fun competition! It was truly a lot of fun seeing all of the pictures and seeing everyone vote! After counting all of the comments and reactions, the winner for the best "Snow-Day" picture is Andrea O'Connor and her horses! Andrea will be getting a $100 credit added to her account tomorrow morning! Second place was Tami McCardle and her dog, Coco, they will be getting a $50 credit. And in third place is Sherry Smith Walker and her cat, Femur, they will be getting a $25 credit! Congrats to these three and thank you to everyone who voted and sent in pictures. Let the second round of voting begin!! We loved seeing all of your animals having so much fun in the snow! This round of voting will conclude Thursday night at 8pm. Dr Lewis and his family will be at our JASPER location from 10am-12pm to answer calls and be available for emergencies. Our Ellijay location will be CLOSED, none of our Doctors are able to make it into the hospital. Remember Ellijay is closed and Jasper is open for Emergencies only. With the winter storm coming in tomorrow morning Wayside Animal Hospital will be closed on Friday January 10th. Depending on road conditions we may also be closed on Saturday as well. We recommend that ANYONE who has a pet that is feeling under the weather bring them in this afternoon. We will accommodate anyone this afternoon. Please don’t wait and be stuck with a very sick animal and have no one to take them to.

The results are in! Chubb and Quinn from, "Who's Pet Monday", belong to Dr. Lewis!
Dr. Thomas “Lyn” Lewis, Jr. is from coastal Beaufort, South Carolina. He attended Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. for his Bachelor of Science in Biology, where he graduated with honors. In his 4 years there he played college tennis and was nationally ranked his senior season. In 1998, he began Veterinary School at the University of Georgia. In 2002, Dr. Lewis had the pleasure of presenting his grandfather, Dr. George Radford, his 50 year medallion honoring his graduation from UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 1952. Soon after graduation in 2002, he started his career at Appalachian Animal Hospital in Ellijay, GA. He quickly became a partner and then purchased the hospital outright in 2008. In 2009 Dr. Lewis purchased Wayside Animal Hospital from Dr. Mike McGhee. By 2011, Dr. Lewis sold Appalachian Animal Hospital and focused his full energy into serving Pickens County and Wayside Animal Hospital. Dr. Lewis has extensive experience with both dogs and cats but has also worked with Gorillas, Kangaroos, Raptors, Cougars, Black Bear, and other wildlife. He loves internal medicine, dermatology, and has specialized training in physical therapy / rehabilitation. However he especially loves spending time with our clients in both the exam rooms and the lobby. Dr. Lewis has authored over 100 articles for various newspapers such as the Pickens Progress and the Ellijay Times Courier. Dr. Lewis stays active in the community with his involvement in the Pickens Chamber of Commerce, he works with local classrooms, and with the Youth Apprenticeship Program hiring high school students each year with a passion for Veterinary Medicine. He is the Founder and serves on the Board for the Mountain Emergency Animal Center, an after-hours veterinary hospital in Blue Ridge, GA. In his spare time, Dr. Lewis loves playing tennis, spending time with his wife Kristen and their children Addison and Patrick.

This is Chubb (dog) and Quinn (horse). Chubb is a 5 year old Goldendoodle, and Quinn is a 17 year old Mecklenburg Warmblood. Chubb is attached to his toys and Quinn loves his food because he is huge, standing at 18hh tall. They both are super sweet and love attention!

FRIDAY'S FURKID:
Check out those amber eyes and meet awesome Atticus, with the gorgeous fawn color coat with brindle markings. Atticus, the super mutt, is almost one year old and weighs around 34 perfect pounds. This handsome boy plays well with other dogs; is a people pleaser; has been living in a foster home where he has learned good house manners and is completely house trained. Atticus is caught up on all of his vetting and is current on preventatives for f/t/hw.
