New cross ties are functional!! Still doing some “decorating” but I absolutely love this design.

The projects have begun! We now have 18 stalls after adding 3 nice and airy 11x14’ stalls to the back of our barn. We will eventually continue extending this row to have 23 total. Thank you Blanc & West Lumber and EB Equestrian LLC.

Welcoming Luna Azul to the farm! Luna is a kill pen rescue. Poor thing has been shuffled around from auction to kill pen and her spirit was broken. For the first couple days, when I went to pet her nose she flinched and pulled her head back (as if she’s expecting to be hit or smacked) 😢 She has been misunderstood and mistreated. Luna has been with us for a week now and I’m already seeing her relax and unload. She has a super fancy trot and I can’t wait to see what she can do! 🧿🌙💙

I want to hop on here and tell you all about our hoof progress. I got Leo a little over a year ago and he had terrible hooves. Since then he’s grown a whole new set of hooves and they look great! I had him shod when he was a little off and we couldn’t pinpoint it. Lately I’ve felt like he doesn’t need the shoes and it’s doing more damage than helping. I’ve been doing a lot of research and found an amazing group on FB called “hoof care and rehabilitation” The admins are professionals and watch closely to make sure the info is accurate. I highly recommend everyone with a horse to go join. I learned in detail about thrush, specifically central sulcus thrush. I had no idea my horse had it since it’s common for it to go unnoticed and not many people talk about it. I have tweaked all my horse’s diets and started treating thrush with extra strength desitin (yes $2.50 off brand 40% zinc oxide butt paste!!!) The thrush is completely gone, central sulcus is opening up and frog is less contracted. Recently we took the plunge and removed Leo shoes so his hooves can grow and heal properly. I would love to see his frogs fill in more and flex with movement like it’s supposed to naturally. So far he’s not tender on his feet and doing great! I plan on buying scoot boots for rocky trail riding. I’m excited about all this new knowledge that I have acquired to help my horse become more comfortable and happier. I hope everyone that reads this gives desitin a try bc let’s face it horses are expensive enough and rather than putting caustic ingredients on his hooves why not use something gentle that works! Also my new favorite over reach boots by .us They never turn, and I love the sleek look!

Leo enjoyed getting a full body massage in bed... he stretched his leg way out while I was rubbing it, we like to call that “the sexy leg”. I’m thinking I need this kind of room service 😝

Checking a few things off our to do list... Today we finally found time to lay down some gravel and stall mats. We are ready for winter and won’t be little muddy piggies 🐷😁 Next on the list is my tackroom, stall fronts and fencing... Super excited for all of our winter projects!!! 🛠
