OMG!!! I didn’t know much about this before we went and I am so glad!!! It was freaking hysterical, surprising, endearing, frequently raunchy, did I mention hysterical? Benjamin J Miller just owned his role, amazing!!! I think Michael with his blankie and David Goldman with his birds got me tickled the most. And Cory with his Hi**er song!… Casey has to darn near pick me up off the floor! Such a fun night. Just outstanding work by everyone!! Go see this show!! Not for kids!

The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers (all "little old ladies") out of millions of dollars.

The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously offensive "Springtime for Hi**er"), hiring a director, raising the money and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad comic construction.

As you may know, we have some furry friends next door at the Baristocats Cat Cafe who rely heavily on donations to provide them with nourishing meals. We're hosting a canned food drive at Premium Pets in conjunction with the Baristocats Cat Cafe to collect donations for our cat friends and help keep their bellies full!

If you'd like to help, please consider purchasing your cans from Premium Pets, next to the cafe, and we’ll offer you a discounted price on each can! You can also drop off any unopened cans of cat food at the cafe during their regular business hours Saturday and Sunday. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of our feline friends.

We are super excited to share the following with you from Nicole Schepers with Premium Pets! Welcome Nicole!! 😊

Hi Friends!

I am super happy to announce that I will continue grooming services under the Premium Pets name in a new location! This location currently operates as a grooming salon, so it will make the transition seamless!

The move will happen at the beginning of April, and I will begin in my new space on April 4th!

While the original plan was to move to the same location with Kitty’s Critter Care, a better opportunity for me opened up. Shed Bath and Beyond is not going to be operating under this name. The groomers that are there will remain as independent contractors; and i will be joining this crew of groomers under the Premium Pets name!

The address for the new location will be 815 East High Street!

The great thing about this move is that i will be block away from the shop, meaning you can easily get grooming done, and slide down to the store before, during or after to get your food/treats/toys!

Please reach out if you have questions or concerns or if we need to adjust your grooming schedule! I look forward to continuing to serve you and your furry friends!

Jennifer has been grooming kitties for nearly 20 years. She has been certified in Feline Safety and is one of the only stylists in mid-MO who actively grooms felines…And LOVES it! She does accept scheduled walk-in nail trim or spot shaving in addition to full service bath or groom packages. If your kitty is in need of services, please message here for more information. 🐱💕

One of the biggest misconceptions among pet owners is that felines do not need grooming when in fact, nothing could be farther from the truth. All felines can benefit from grooming by a professional who has been properly trained. Grooming felines is not the same as grooming canines. Here are some things your professional groomer wants you to know:

1. Felines do NOT groom themselves. They lick themselves. If they are not properly groomed by a professional this licking often leads to hairballs as the cat's barbed tongue combined with licking means ingesting fur.

2. The saliva a feline leaves behind is often the cause of humans claiming to be allergic to cats. It's actually the saliva and dander that cause allergies. This is another reason professional grooming is necessary for felines.

3. All felines coats can become matted, even short coated breeds. Impacted, shedding fur will quickly become matted. This is yet another reason felines need professional grooming.

The same rules that apply to canine grooming apply to feline grooming. Start your kitten young. Play with their feet. Keep them brushed/combed between appointments. Please respect your canine groomer if they refer you to a feline groomer. A groomer who is not properly trained in feline grooming can be seriously injured.

Hi! Just giving an update. Ford is still experiencing shipping delays for parts. Even if I got a call today, it still takes 4-6wks for Wag ‘n Tails to convert it.
As of right now, I’ll be at the shop through most of May.
Starting May 1st, I will just be taking the clients that are going mobile to keep them on their schedule. If you have signed up for mobile grooming and can’t wait any longer to get your pet groomed, please call the shop! I will be there every day next week. Just ask for Jen! I will put you onto my May schedule.
I appreciate your patience! I swear this is happening, not if, just when. Lol! Hang in there with me!

I know….happy National Puppy Day! And I’m posting a turtle pic. But his name is MR. PICKLES!!! My cat is named Pickles so I’m a little obsessed with this turtle. And it’s a cute story! This time of year when all the turtles start coming out I remember how my pug, Izzy Sue, would try to get them to play with her. 😂 Turtles Rock!

Mr. Pickles, a radiated tortoise and the oldest animal at the Houston Zoo, finally became a father at the age of 90. He and his partner, Mrs. Pickles, welcomed three tortoise hatchlings: Dill, Gherkin and Jalapeño.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL CLIENTS!

Dearest Clients,
As many of you know, since the Covid lock down in 2020, small businesses have been struggling greatly to keep going. We have not dodged that bullet but lasted longer than most, even with losing every part time employee and two full time groomers after that lockdown. We have slowly built our foundation back, but finding employees has still continued to be the greatest challenge. I have had to come to grips with the fact that things are just not getting much better with time. Today, with heavy inflation and big corporations bumping their minimum wage being able to spread that cost to their customers much easier than we can, small businesses are faced with heavy competition for full time and part time employees. We simply cannot afford the payroll it takes to staff our shop the way we would like to do it.
I decided last fall to start Capital Grooming Mobile Pet Spa. I had every intention to keep running Shed, Bath & Beyond but, since the week before Christmas, we lost our full time Front Desk Manager and two more groomers. I just don’t have it in me to keep fighting this fight for SBB while also running the mobile business. My husband and I have one daughter finishing school in the coming year and two younger daughters getting ready to start high school soon. I don’t want to miss any more time than I have to with them. We felt it best to focus on the mobile so I can have the flexibility to be ready, present and available for my family.
So….it is with a heavy heart that I am announcing the closing of Shed, Bath & Beyond Grooming. We have certainly come a long way over the years! This business has been a labor of love for me from the very onset and has brought so many special people and fur babies into my life. My staff and I have laughed and cried and hugged so many of you, watched as some of you got married, hugged some of you who divorced, witnessed proudly as several of you battled major health issues, seen your babies grow into little kids and then even bigger kids (some have even been my employees!), lost fur babies, got new fur puppies, lost spouses or other loved ones…..we have shared so very much. I am truly humbled as many of you have continued to support me and my shop faithfully throughout nearly fourteen years (seventeen if you were still with me in the basement of Crago Vet Clinic!) Some of you are on your second, third or even fourth pets with us! What an absolute joy it has been!!!

There are countless emotions wrapped up in what we have created here. You have not just been another warm body in the door; you have truly been part of our SBB family.
Our work family is now branching into their own special businesses! Jessica and Alyssa are going to continue our SBB traditions as they will begin renting booth space here at 815 E High to work as Independent Contractors.

April 29th will be our final day of employee operations.

Jessica and Alyssa will contact each of their clients personally about continuing your schedule with them. Quite a few of my clients who are not choosing to go mobile with me will also have your schedules transferred to either Jessica or Alyssa.
Please know your next appointments will remain the same! Keep those reminder cards! We are not canceling anyone already on the schedule with myself, Jessica or Alyssa. After April 29th, they may contact you to shift some things around as they adjust but will do their best to make this easy for you. All my regular clients' appointments will continue to be at the shop until the van comes in. I will contact you with any information on that front.
If you know you are on our wait list, no worries! Alyssa and Jessica will still keep you on their wait list to work you in when they can!

Jamie Woods, who just recently started The Barking Garage, is someone else you can check out as well.

I hope you will continue to follow and support these ladies as they each take on this new challenge. Things will look the same at the shop, but I’m sure there will be a few changes here and there. We will strive to make this transition as seamless as possible for you but appreciate your patience with any hiccups.

On a really happy note, Shed, Bath & Beyond was just voted #1 Best In Jefferson City again! It feels so good going out on top!!!!

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!!! Thank you for believing in us and for continuing to support Jessica and Alyssa. Hopefully I will get to see some of you from time to time when I am drop by the shop!

I want to give a HUGE shout out to the Puppies For Parole Program that is run by the MO Dept of Corrections.

Today, I was invited by PFP to teach a grooming class for the inmates who handle the pets for the program at both the Algoa Correctional Center and the Jefferson City Correctional Center. For those who don’t know, Algoa is a minimal security prison and JCCC is maximum security.

This was probably one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had in my life. I don’t think what I did and saw fully registered until I got home and was telling my husband about it tonight. What an incredible program!!!…not only for the dogs, but for the impact they make on the inmates. The love and pride these men have for their pets was overflowing. They couldn’t wait to introduce me to their dogs and tell me little stories about them. These dogs are with their inmates 24/7 and are so incredibly happy and content with their humans.

The inmates at both sites were gracious, engaged, respectful and eager to ask questions to learn about improving their pet care. I can tell you they absolutely love what they do! This program allows them a chance to give back to the community in a way they probably never thought possible. It is bittersweet for me to think about how they train these pets, love them and then give them up to new homes.
The inmates know, understand and appreciate the purpose in this mission. They understand the sacrifice is worth the love of a dog, even for a short time, and loved they are….
