It was a sad day yesterday for the Schlup's and the Premium Pets crew, as we said goodbye to our sweet Grizzly Bear.

Many of you remember Grizzly from the east shop, where he was a regular presence. Over the last two years, his health began to decline, and bringing him to the new shop wasn't as doable. Despite his struggles, Grizzly always had a favorite thing—going for walks on the Greenway Trail. Nothing made him happier than seeing me grab his leash and load him into the car.

Before his back leg worsened, we’d take long walks together, and on special occasions, Grizzly would even run! Some of you may recall the times he darted out the door at the east shop, thinking it was a game when we chased after him. That’s the Grizzly I love to remember—the one full of life and energy, before the pain slowed him down.

Grizzly was a quiet, gentle soul with a look in his eyes that spoke volumes. One of my favorite things was how he’d walk up, bury his head in your stomach, and soak up every moment of affection. He always wanted to be close to those he loved, and that warmth endeared him to so many.

Yesterday, Brad and I held Grizzly close as he took his final breath. It was a deeply hard moment, but I am grateful to Paws in Heaven for coming to our home and helping make his passing peaceful. Their care allowed Grizzly to stay in the comfort of the place he loved most.

Grizzly, we love you and will miss you more than words can say. You left a lasting impression on so many hearts. Rest in peace, buddy.

Snowed in today, I had some time to reflect on 2024 — and wow, what a year it’s been!

This was our best year yet, and there’s so much to celebrate. I can’t possibly fit all the amazing moments into one post or a handful of pictures, but I want to share just how proud I am of our incredible team and how grateful we are for all of YOU!

While Brad and I have been on maternity/paternity leave, our amazing staff kept things running smoothly during the busiest time of the year—and they did it all with smiles on their faces (at least from what we saw, haha)! From our 7th Anniversary Party to Small Business Saturday, Thanksgiving dinner boxes, the 5th Saturday Sale, Santa photos, pop-up events, and working right up until Christmas Eve, these ladies showed up and gave their all.

Being away from the store has been tough because we miss you all so much, but knowing we could rely on our team to provide the same love and care you’ve come to expect gave us so much peace of mind.

Looking ahead, 2025 is going to be hard to top, but we’re ready for the challenge! I’m excited to build on the incredible partnerships we’ve cultivated in 2024, revamp some of our in-store events, and introduce new merchandise. We’ll be meeting as a team later this week to set goals and plan some fun and exciting events for you and your pets.

Be sure to claim your bowl ASAP, because they won't last long.

If you have an enrichment/slow bowl at home you want us to fill for you, drop off your clean bowls with a note of any dietary restrictions and we will get it ready for pick up on Sunday.
