At PHPCR, one of the missions we are dedicated to is helping Senior cats who have been displaced find new forever homes. Though it is kitten season, we wanted to take a moment to highlight one of our sweet seniors, Monty along with his best friend Sundance (a void kitty!) Monty came to us when the Sanctuary he lived at closed. At around 13 years old, this guy would love nothing more than a home of his own! At the cafe, Monty is our official “lap inspector”, if you sit long enough, Monty is guaranteed to stop by sooner or later to check out your cat-cuddling technique. When he visits volunteers' homes, he even loves to sleep in bed with them! If you have room in your heart and home for two sweet senior kitties, please message us for more information.

Meet Chai! This gorgeous lady is calm, sweet, happy and loving! She's about two years old and does really well with other cats. Her nickname is "Chirpy" due to her talkative nature with the cutest, tiniest little meows.

Ok. Maybe it’s a little more involved. But this is how to get started. Liking both pages is important because that’s how you’ll see whenever a new volunteer training meeting is coming up. Bonus points if you share the word with your friends. Come to a training meeting (no sign-up required). The initial meeting will cover our mission and goals, then segue onto the basic rules for volunteering. From there, we’ll partner you with senior volunteers to train you in different areas, like cat lounge, animal care, cafe, etc.

There are a TON of ways to help us save lives. Whether you can volunteer a little or a lot, as long as you can commit to our mission to provide the best care possible to the animals who rely on us, there’s a way to volunteer. Some volunteers will be great fits for the cafe. Some will decide to foster. Others will help with transport and the hundred other myriad of things that go into making Rescue possible.

18 and over can train for anything. Junior volunteers 15 and up can train to help wherever we can safely have minors helping and we need a parent to volunteer with you.

But it ALL starts with a training meeting. So it’s a good thing we have one coming up this week!
Wednesday, June 19th at the Cafe (702 E McCarty St) at 5:30 pm.

If you can’t make it, don’t stress. There will be more meetings. If you’ve volunteered in the past with us and it’s just been a while, shoot us a message. We’ll get you up to speed and back on track to help in no time!

Have a special skill? Art, photography, baking, social media, writing, fundraising, crafting, hang gliding (seriously.) Let us know. We will use you!

Odin is home after spending 10 days at the vet clinic. He weighs just over 1 pound now and seems to be healing well.

Our sweet Ziggy is turning into a stunner. He had a rough start but he is a fighter. He only knows a human mommy, therefore he is very attached to humans. He is finally 7 weeks!! He is tiny but mighty with tons of personality.

Welcome to little, sweet Baby (aka Baby Queen, Baby Cat, Sugar Baby and more). This little 6-week-old calico has a big personality and LOVES people. She is often found snuggled up in the arms of her foster family. After being found alone in the middle of a country road and very underweight, she is settling in, growing and happy. 🤍🧡🖤

UPDATE: It was decided the surgery could not wait for him to gain weight. Even though it was dangerous, this boy is a fighter and came through surgery like a champ! He will stay at the Vet for a week so he can be closely monitored for any complications. We have added photos after surgery and will update again later this week. Thank you for your support. Please continue to share this post and donate towards his bill if you can.

This precious soul was discovered on the highway, facing an uncertain fate. But hope is not lost! Our veterinarian friends are closely monitoring the little one and providing pain medication to ensure comfort. The goal is to wait for our tiny friend to gain a bit more weight before removing the injured eye, giving them a better fighting chance. We invite you to join us in sending positive thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and recovery. Your contributions towards the vet bill will be greatly appreciated! Together, we can make a difference in this little one's life.

Look who just finished 6 weeks, our baby girl Isabelle. She is now in full kitten mode with a tortie attitude. She is definitely going to be a spunky, outgoing, fun, and loving little girl. She will continue to develop and will start receiving her vaccinations next week. Before you know it, she'll be ready for adoption.

Sweet Momma Noodle is looking for her forever home. She will be vetted as soon as she finishes nursing the babies in the next week or so. She is gentle and likes head rubs but needs a patient, loving home to gain her trust, preferably as an only cat or with other gentle, calm pets. She is approx 1-2 years old, very petite, uses the litter box well, LOVES food, and is starting to finally gain weight. Please message us if you’d like to add her to your family! 🤍

Our little Isabelle has finished five weeks of life. She has her baby teeth and she alternates between the bottle and baby food/wet kitten food. She uses the litter box and is extremely playful. Her sixth week will find her growing more and becoming more confident and she already is big in play fighting with the older kittens. At six weeks also, she will start getting her vaccinations, which will be getting her ready for adoption in a few weeks. I wouldn't wait too long if you're interested in this extremely cute kitten. You can fill out a pre-adoption form and get the process started.

Foster Isabelle diva in the making

Darling was born 1 year ago today! He was diagnosed with FIP on June 17, 2023, and with the help of all of our wonderful supporters, we were able to utilize an experimental cure and as of December 1, 2023, he was cured of this once 100% fatal disease! He was adopted by his foster, and is besties with the resident pittie and fellow all black cat. Darling is now living his best life!

Aspen is here to talk about what he is grateful for-the gift of time. Aspen was rescued from a hoarding situation. The local AC where he was located was full-full-full, so he and a few friends came to the cafe. But the three of them were pretty scared. He spent the first 8 weeks here hissing and hiding. But we believe that time and patience can fix most things. And look at him now. Every day he settles in a little more, and now he’s ready to look for his forever home. Time is a precious gift for at risk animals like Aspen.
