I'm so sorry this post is going up so late! Network issues are my nemesis today but thanks to my great staff, I was able to get the pictures and stories I needed via text. The weather definitely played a factor in the low number of adoptions this week. We look forward to being open this upcoming week with no shortened schedules. 🙏 See you soon!

Here is a recap of C.A.R.E. 2024. As you can see, numbers are up across all four categories. Some areas we'd like to see continued improvement are:
* Reunited - You can help by sharing our Stray Alert posts, especially when they are found near you. Share with friends, neighbors and community pages in that area.
* Sent to Rescue - This is on us and takes a lot of work on our end. We have to search for rescues, send emails, complete spreadsheets, bios and take lots of pictures. We struggle with finding enough time to dedicate to this. We will make this our New Year's Resolution for 2025.

UPDATE: The big guy at the bottom was reunited with his family but the little girl up top is still waiting on someone to claim her.

These strays were both found in Talbott, so if you belong to any community pages in that area, please share this post. Somebody has to be looking for these babies.

We are still looking for people who would be able to provide a warm safe place for a medium to large dog during this nasty winter weather. Even a few days would help.
We'll be open Friday and Saturday 12-5 & 12-4.

We figured it would be a slow week with the shelter being closed over the New Years holiday. Animal Control kept us hopping though, with holiday strays coming from all over the county. We are still in dire need of cold weather fosters. If you can provide a safe warm home, CARE can provide whatever food and supplies you need.

Thank you to those who came to pick up a dog to foster during this cold snap. Last night we set up 10 wire crates in our lobby, feed room, med room and laundry room. This allowed us to bring the dogs that were in our most exposed outdoor kennels, inside. They will go back outside during the day today. Please, if you can provide a safe warm foster home for a medium or large dog, come to C.A.R.E. today between 12:00 & 4:00. Our staff and dogs thank you!

2-3) Male & female found on Westward Road in New Market
4-7) Two males and two females found running together on Old Stage Road in Dandridge.
