Finally doing the Turkeys 😂 thought it would be easier to skin them rather than scald and pluck since we’re grinding them up. Now I’m questioning that after the first one 😮‍💨 😅

Awesome rainbow after a lesson today. And Tess is all about the treats. I was never really into giving my horses treats very often but Tess is good about not getting pushy and it keeps her happy with all the lessons she’s been doing 😂

Good morning and Happy December 1st! It’s been so lovely out lately. Really helps with the winter blues! Now I really need to start decorating for Christmas!

My rabble 😂 some of them anyway… one of these days I’ll get those turkeys done up 🍽 they’re past ready and probably bigger than I planned! 😂

Kaylee did a great job today AND my new adult student whom I didn’t get a picture of so I’ll have to make sure to do that next time 😉

Buck boy wasn’t able to win Lilu’s affection last breeding season. He was young and immature and she didn’t want anything to do with him. We’ll he’s definitely in rut again and is learning to Woo her 😆 I she’ll be having kids in January. I can’t wait to see what color patterns they have.

Second lesson with Kaylee. She’s doing so good! I love working with the kids! (Adults too lol) I am officially taking on students for riding lessons. It’s been a journey getting here. I showed and trained and gave lessons up until shortly after I got married 21 years ago and then the horse stuff became very sporadic because life and kids (which I do not regret one bit!). Now my kids are almost all teenagers and we were blessed to get some property 5 years ago. We just have an outdoor arena for now so winter/spring lessons would be depending on weather unless I can find an indoor arena to use. Contact me if interested!

They’re getting playful! 4 days old 💕

Luna had her kids this evening! I penned her up this morning because I thought today might be the day (for the umpteenth time the past month! 😂) But for real, this time she had a string of mucous this morning and I could tell for sure her ligaments were completely softened. Missed the birth but I’m so relieved she didn’t need help. I was a little concerned because she is on the small side being 1/4 Nigerian dwarf. The boy is the bigger colorful one and they are both so sweet!!

Dreams In The Making

I’ve dreamed of having a farm like this for years. Growing up, my parents had nearly the same size property and I showed my horses, trained and gave riding lessons. Well, then I got married (nearly 18 years and 3 boys later) and my husband and I lived in town most of that time. 2 years ago, the dream began to come true when we moved out here to Ankeny Hill from Albany after my parents sold their home to move here and retire.

We are still working on building what I have brewing in my mind that I want this place to be. My goal is to turn it into a small equestrian facility. Horses are my passion. Boarding, riding lessons and a large trail course that goes around one side of the property where people can come and practice as if on an actual trail ride (though a bit smaller scale) are some ideas that I would like to see come to life.

As of right now, I am homeschooling, working from home, enjoying our chickens and farm fresh eggs (which we will have available to purchase by the end of this summer), two horses and very soon we will have a dairy goat for fresh milk! I have always wanted to homestead, and this is close enough!
