Warning: This may be a long post! 💔🐾 🌸
Around 9 years ago after I had Grady and Whiskey, I said out loud, ‘Maybe I might get a new female to breed or maybe I might look into getting 2 year old female’…just a random thought 💭🤔
A minute later I was on Craigslist just browsing and I came across a post…’Two year old female, already bred’ … and she was from Jefferson! It has to be a sign! Like a ‘Neon sign’. WELL what didn’t help the situation was that my husband had decided to tell me at the last minute he was heading out for a 10-day skiing trip without the family and to be honest, I wasn’t happy about it!
Next thing I am driving to a random ladies house to look at this pregnant yellow lab. Well, I liked her, but I came to my senses and left without her. So several days passed and she never left my heart. I knew I needed my head examined, I mean it really didn’t make sense. Brian was on a plane ✈️ to go skiing ⛷ somewhere and I was left at home with no explanation really! I couldn’t discuss it with him first. I mean I really wasn’t ready for a new dog who was about ready to have pups. Ok, just let the thought pass!…
Then I get a text, the lady said she really wanted me to get Goldie! She said 3 or 4 more people had came to look at her, but she really hadn’t connected to anyone else…so I hadn’t come to my senses obviously because here I go driving across town to take a look at her again. Y’all I was so nervous because this really made no good sense! But something was telling me otherwise. When I knocked on the door, the door swung open, and there she stood at the top of the stairs! She was snarling with squinted eyes and looked like she was about to pop! I asked the lady, ‘OMG, is she growling at me?’ She looked like she was in a full on dental commercial! I could see every tooth in her head! ‘She loves you, she is smiling!’
As she wobbled down the steps to greet me, she came over a laid her head on my lap. I had always heard that dog’s don’t cry, but she did! She looked up at me and I said, ‘Alright girl, let’s go!’ And that is how ‘Goldie Two Sweet’s’ journey with me began.
I am posting a picture of her on her ‘gotcha’ day and two days later she had 12 healthy pups, which many of you now have! Goldie was a gift! I gift I never knew I needed! Well yesterday I had to say goodbye to one of the most faithful, loving, beloved dogs I have ever known! She lived up to her name, she was truly Goldie Two Sweet!
Her infectious smile 😊 was inherited by many of her offspring! If you have one of her pups, or grand pups, then you are one of the lucky ones! Even a recent litter of her ‘grands’ inherited her smile! This has been a rough week! I knew her time was near, Sunday afternoon we sat in the grass together, ate cheeseburgers and fries and a whole quart of ice cream! She belonged to a few before me, but since she was 2 she was mine and Harris Hilltop was home! I am comforted to know that she and Behr are together again! —-R.I.P. Goldie Two Sweet 4-20-2022 (11 years old) You were truly the best!
As I made final preparations for her yesterday, ALL her pack began to howl! They knew… she was a part of the pack…she will be dearly missed! Please share pictures of her pups as a tribute to her! She was a good one! 🐾💔 You will always be my girl!
