We assist in adoptions/placement and any aspect of GSD life we can. Welcome to GSD Domicile! Our goal is to assist families in search of quality GSD puppies. Breeding and raising well socialized quality German Shepherds takes time, effort, patience, research, dedication, a great team and WORK! Our team consists of me (Michael), my wife (Jessica) and our 5 kids. Many people overlook kids in this eq
uation, yet they play one of the most important roles in preparing our puppies for their new homes. We work very hard throughout the breeding, birth, pre-placement and post-placement process to ensure your experience is something we can be proud of. My story and love of the breed began at an early age as my Dad owned a mix of the breed. At age 17 I got my first GSD (Jake). We were attached at the hip and he was my best friend. As human like as German Shepherds are, of course my best friend was not going to live as long as me. Jake passed at age 12 and though it was hard on me I knew he would not be my last GSD. Once I was ready for my next friend and upon months of looking and constantly researching I grew frustrated as I had been on rescue lists as well as out searching for good breeders. A few dogs came up through rescue that were mixed, had previous issues, unknown backgrounds, older than I wanted, had existing health issues or other things that turned me a way. Though I have adopted and rescued many animals in the past and currently still do, my research and concern as a Father has taught me that some breeds should be selected from a good breeder. I ran into an issue here because when I was looking most breeders were using "AKC" and "Champion Lines" as selling points rather than giving me individual information on the puppies they were selling. I was looking for my new family member and was being treated like I was buying a car. Looking for a well-balanced and good temperament pet GSD at a reasonable price and only seeing $1500 - $3000 pups outside of pet stores, suspicious breeders and “puppy mills” was a major issue. Places that I did visit or ads I responded to with my desired price range did not meet my expectations. Mom and Dad dog were not available to see, the pups were obviously always outside and thrown cheap food a couple times a day, the pups were talked about as a group even when directing questions about an individual pup, Mom was living outside with the pups and most likely always, conditions were not clean (to my standards) and a variety of other issues. After several months we finally put out more than we wanted to, but found a pup that we were pleased with and named him Mason! It was not always our intention to breed as we stayed quite busy with keeping home and running the kids around. My wife knew the hours and dedication I would put in and I knew the attachment she would have to the pups (I may have been a little teary eyed myself during placement....) if we ever did decide to move forward with breeding. A couple years went by with several compliments on our Mason during pet expos, vet visits, during walks, at work and other instances. I am a County worker and have been lucky enough to bring Mason to work over the years where he and I would interact with fellow county employees that were police officers. I have never been a one dog (or kid) person and luckily my sweet wife surprised me by saying she was ready to get our second GSD together. We both decided we wanted an all black female and began the process again, seeing the same issues as before. This changed our search efforts as we had began to consider breeding and wanted to select a pup that supported Mason's stregnths and weaknesses. We found Molly, a beautiful solid black high drive pup! I wanted to update and extend my knowledge of the breed even more. I talked to several people from owners to trainers and of course spent hours online. As Molly grew into a well-tempered beautiful young GSD we began to weigh her and Mason strengths and weaknesses very closely. Several friends, co-workers, fellow enthusiast and people we would talk to or run into began asking about breeding the two. We would hear the very same stories of disappointment that we had experienced in the past from those looking for a pup. My wife and I sat down and went over everything and decided we definitely wanted to move forward and build something that would resolve the issues of good owners wanting great pets at a reasonable price. As you will learn by interacting with this page and members, we take our breeding very serious. We not only want to make each potential owners experience great, but protect our pups and the breed as well. We are not here to sell you a pup and then move on with life. We are here for the life of your pup and even after. From prepared meals for the pups to owner cookouts, we do everything possible to have you feel like part of our GSD family rather than a client. Anyone can breed two dogs, but only a dedicated team can give you a life changing experience.
