Yall this is HUGE! For those of us who have been devastated by the effects of family member with cognitive decline this brings me such HOPE!
Nutshell:
2 groups for 20 weeks:
Group 1 (control group) - standard of care for dementia patient which is medication
Group 2 (intervention group) - only lifestyle changes including:
🌱 WFPB whole food plant based diet existing of veggies, fruit, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains
💪 EXERCISE of just walking 30 minutes a day
🙏🏼 STRESS management with meditation/prayer and breath work
🥰 GROUP SUPPORT through zoom workshops
RESULTS in 20 weeks:
Group 1 - continued to decline
Group 2 - 70% got better and it was largely dependent on their adherence. Those who stuck with the program diligently improved the most.
This is just 5 months y’all! People are starting to get their life back and what happens if they stick to it for another 2 years?? I can’t wait to find out what the next phase looks like. The same lifestyle changes that can help with diabetes and heart disease is not surprising that it can help with Alzheimer’s as well 🙏🏼❤️❤️
