Drama Dog Training has been serving clients in the West Michigan area since 2009 teaching obedience and behavior modification. I will build upon your dog’s etiquette to gently and positively teach him/her how to behave in the human world. A good start on good manners is making sure that your dog listens to you and can follow some basic commands: sit, down, stay, come, etc. I will teach by making y

our dog discover that obeying is the key to getting what s/he wanted all along. Drama Dog Training offers both group classes and private lessons at your place or mine. If your dog is "acting up" call me!

It may mean that the way they have been let down is they weren't trained. But "old" dogs CAN learn new tricks -- easily!

This is a classic example of species miscommunication. The cat is saying one thing -- get out of my face before I kill you -- but the dog is reading that same body language as if a canine were doing it. When a canine bats at another with a front paw, it's an invitation to play.

This can literally be a life-saver for a pet!

When I volunteered at the Humane Society, I saw hundreds of dogs who were there most likely from a failure to train a high-energy dog. The dogs weren't ill-natured, or unwilling -- they just didn't know what behavior was required to live with people. Remember, they're DOGS, they act like DOGS!

Dogs behave like dogs. They don't know what is "polite" in people terms. They jump up, nip, push, shoulder bump, paw -- all as invitations to PLAY. It is up to US, as the intelligent species, to understand and teach the dog!

There are NO bad dogs!

Dogs reflect their owners. The single most important change I've had to work on IN MYSELF is CALM.

It’s not about how much you succeed with your dog, it’s about what happens when you don’t...

On days when things don’t go your way, confidence, ego and even your commitment may take a hit.
How you handle those times can make all the difference in being the best partner to your dog.
While for some success comes early and easily, for most, it takes time, hard work, discipline and a lot of mistakes.
For others, it can be even more difficult, coming only after refusing to allow circumstances, setbacks and disappointment be the final story.

Success is a process that is not just about winning, it’s also about progress.
It’s important to be motivated by the accomplishments within your goal and equally important not to fear disappointment, as it provides the road map for what you need to change and improve.
Success has many faces, that show up often, but it’s up to you to recognize and derive the relative sense of fulfillment. It can include:

Understanding and executing the next step in training
Solving a problem (or not creating one by being impatient)
Taking ownership of what you’ve trained (or haven’t)
Being accountable and not blaming your dog
Recognizing when you shouldn’t or should ask more of your dog and yourself
Letting go of ego and expectations
Having a growth mindset
Developing mental fortitude
to name a few.…

In times when success is hard to find, disappointments offer opportunity to spot weaknesses and let go of bad habits.
They are important to acknowledge, and not dispute or hide, as self-awareness is critical for development and becoming better.

You’re the only one that can define what success means for you—
To attain your definition, you’ll likely need to take risks, be uncomfortable, seek help, make sacrifices, have disappointments, learn new skills and be willing to change.
I have many weaknesses that I work on everyday and I’ve found the more I try to improve personally, the better partner and trainer I am for my dog.

Yes, cat and dog body language is often opposite. When a dog bats at another dog with a front paw it means, "Let's play" but when a cat does it that means, "Back off!" When a dog shows you its belly, it's submission/trust, when a cat flops over it's reading all four paws (and claws) for attack. When a dog turns its back on you that means it doesn't want to challenge you. When cat does it, you are in the doghouse....

It means trouble
